I lost a stone a month on the cambridge - but beware because when I stopped the diet after loosing loads of weight I have put a lot back on - not everybody does though - and also a lot of my hair fell out - a side effect. I would say almost half my head of hair - but it has since grown back.

of all the reports i have read i have never heard of anyone losing their hair - was it noticable?? how much did you put back on - all/more??

I did it and hair loss is a side effect.

I also found the diet caused toilet problems (sorry tmi).

Its difficult to manage socially! - do you have to prepare food for others? If so it can be fatal! Also found difficult with working - fixing a shake without a blender to hand can make it lumpy and not great. Not recommended that you make and store til say lunchtime as a) it can go off and b) you can loose a lot of the nutrients.

Social gatherings can be a minefield - do you go out for the meal with friends but abstain? How will you manage traditional mealtimes? I had to hide away from kitchen and dp was forced to fend for himself!!! Do you have children? if so fending may not be the way forward for you! IME dipping in and out at will made the process of weight loss much longer - its an all or nothing diet!

Finally after about 8 months of cambridge, mostly succesful I lost about a stone and a half. BUT it didn't teach me about why I was overweight, I feel less fitter than before (you can't exercise on the diet) and i have put back on all the weight plus more.

Hi grumpbum! - love that name

It is on the cambridge diet website under a side effect - have a look at the forums as well - it isnt uncommon.

Rest assured it does grow back. It was noticeable - but not in the way that hairloss in illness is. I didnt have bald patches. It looked very thin. I had my hair cut quite short. If you look at the forum there are lots of tips people have to help with this.

I went from 18.7 stone down to 12 stone in 6 months. In the year since the diet I am now back up to nearly 16 stone. I have to say that a lot of this is my own fault - you can loose the weight easy when you are in a ketosis state - I just was not hungry. But when I started eating again - all my old problems resurfaced.

I should have addressed this before starting to eat food again. I am looking at this now - am going to try the old fashioned exercise, healthy eating with some hypnotherapy.

agree with kd73 - constipation is a real problem with the cambridge diet. I took pysellium husk (could be spelt wrong!) from holland and barret and this helped

Its funny cause I had only heard success stories before now. Thanks all - I will give it some more thought
