Diary of a serial dieter

Hi all, I have never posted on a thread before so here goes! I’m a 49 year old perimenopausal woman and I have struggled with my weight for years. I have been smaller and I have been bigger but it’s always been a struggle, and one that never seems to get easier. At the moment I am the biggest I have been, at 11 stone 6 ish and 5 foot 4. I am a serial dieter, I find a new diet, get all motivated and excited then don’t stick to it. This year alone, I have done low carb, IF (16/8), one meal a day (I lasted two days), Slimpod, Cambridge and many others. Most last a week, some even less.

So, in a bid to be accountable by setting up a thread, I am going to try a new method, just not giving up and staying consistent. I shall be doing three meals a day, lots of water and lots of sleep. I do Pilates twice a week and love to walk. I hope the thought of people joining the thread will force me to keep posting and not give up.

I shall post my weight tomorrow. I’m sick of feeling like a sausage bursting out of its skin and if anyone would like to join me, that would be lovely.

How did you get on? 😊

@Blondstrawberry I think I'm in the same boat as you. I'm sick of all the fads and think I've confused myself over the years about what' food is good and which is 'bad' as this varies so much depending on what plan you're following. I'm sure it's not meant to be this hard! I'm starting again tomorrow. I'm aiming for moderation and consistency.

I'd like to lose a stone before Christmas, which is totally doable with consistency. @Oysterbabe are you trying to lose?

Oysterbabe · 28/08/2023 20:41

A stone should be achievable.

I am trying to lose eventually. I'm focusing on healing my messed up relationship with food to start with. My plan is to reduce UPF as much as I can and once I've got into a reasonable routine and stopped the binge and starve cycle then look at tweaking the quantities so I can lose. I don't want to don't anymore I've yoyoed more times than I can count.

@Oysterbabe sounds like a good plan. I actually think that healing our relationships with food will probably resolve the weight issues. That's my hope anyway!
