Back to Ozempic after a break

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me. I was on Ozempic for about 6 months from January this year and did really well losing 2 stones essentially because the "food noise" in my head was completely switched off. It was amazing - no desire to snack, no cravings, only enough appetite for 3 small meals per day.

I had to stop Ozempic due to being unable to get hold of any so I had a break of 4 weeks but have now been back on it for just over a week (I'm 2 days past my second injection). I went straight back on at 1mg, the same dose as I was previously on. Well so far I'm really disappointed as it has made no difference to how I'm feeling at all, no loss of appetite or quieting of the food thoughts.

Has any one else experienced going back after a break? Does it take a long while to build back up in the system again? I was expecting almost immediate results having gone straight back onto 1mg. It's frustrating especially given how crazily expensive the pens are now!!

Must just be me then!

I haven't used ozempic but used saxenda which I believe is similar. When I had a break I had to start back on the lowest dose and build back up. I did find eventually it stopped working for me and it was costing me a fortune so I went back to old fashioned dieting and calorie counting.

It deffo builds up in your system so I'd give it a month? Can I ask did you keep the 2 stone off during the period off it?

Hopefully by the end of this pen it will be working again. It was still working at full effect when I had to stop.

I haven't put any weight on during the break but my appetite has come back and I'm fighting all the old cravings again so I know I would gain weight if I let myself slip. Ozempic is actually a miracle in how it stops me wanting to eat all the time!!

Well done on keeping it off! I've gone on and off it all this year - it's made me very nauseated at times and I couldn't manage work feeling that way - and there's also been a few times that there's been no supply. I'm going back on it again now after 4 weeks off but I'm starting at just over .25mg and I'll titration up.

Ah I have been lucky not to suffer many side effects - bad heartburn is the worst of it. I have been sick twice very randomly but other than that absolutely fine. The heartburn is starting up again now so hopefully that means the drug is taking effect.

Do you have a plan for when you're off permanently, to avoid the cravings? This is what worries me about taking it

I think it's mindset. The first time you used it, you were ready and wanting to make a change. You were motivated. This time, you've started it because it's available again, not because you necessarily had the same motivation. That's what I've found. Did really well, because I knew I needed to and wanted to make a change. This time, I've started it just because it's there, and the impact has been much less. I need to work on that, as the medication alone isn't going to help
