Anyone want to quit sugar with me cold turkey tomorrow?

I’ll join you, I always feel so much better when I cut it out.

user64827777 · 23/07/2023 20:53

Same! I did 4 weeks sugar free last year and the whites of my eyes were SO WHITE, my skin was glowing. I miss it.

How did you get on today @user64827777 ? I have had a really low carb day, only 42g and stuck to my calories too, which considering there is a whole chocolate cake in my kitchen I think I’ve done well there!

Well done @thenewaveragebear1983 👏🏼

Lots of temptations today as it's school holidays and I'm with young DC so we got a cinnamon bun on the way to the tube, they were giving out free ice creams at the soft play we went to this morning, DH bought donuts on the way home at lunchtime from our favourite bakery, and then cupcakes at a play date this afternoon. What a disaster! But I was so good I didn't cave. Worried about the amount of crap DC have had today though 🤔

Overall calories so far today 1700 which I'm ok with, could have had more veggies if I'm honest, but one thing at a time, quitting the sugar!

This is around the time of the evening that I really start craving sweets. My other trigger point is around 3.30-4pm-ish. If I can just get through those two points in the day, I'm golden.

Oh! I've also stuck to my water intake goal 😊

Yes as I'm so less anxious when I don't have it and I have been eating more of it lately. How do you do it though?

user64827777 · 24/07/2023 21:09

How do I not give in to cravings you mean? I tell myself to get a grip 😂 I look at photos of when I was off sugar last year and I looked so good, I was exercising a lot, I had so much energy etc. I like to look and feel good and right now I don't - my clothes are tight, my skin is sallow, my eyes look dull.

I have to say I gave up booze and I get the same feeling now. Are you giving up everything with added sugar? I feel like everything I eat has sugar 😂

Mammalifewithtwo · 24/07/2023 22:20

I'm a day late but I am going to attempt to give up sugar tomorrow. Feel so horrendous lately and my skins a mess, so really want to try make myself feel a bit better!

I rarely drink these days too and I'm so glad for it. I've never been a big drinker and my skin thanks me everyday.

I'm trying my best to cut out all hidden unnatural sugars but find this near impossible, like I'm sure the bread I had yesterday had sugar in it but at least it wasn't a chocolate bar.

Natural sugars from fruit, during this kickstart period, I try to limit, so no overly sweet things like dates but I'll have a pear which is lower in natural sugar than an apple.

I could murder a pain au chocolat this morning though 🤤

I'm trying to do things like make my own pasta sauce as the shop ones are loaded with sugar but I can't keep away from biscuits

user64827777 · 25/07/2023 21:56

Another day done. So hard 😭

@teaandtoastwithmarmite I'm honestly like an alcoholic with sweet stuff, so if there's a pack of biscuits in the house, I can't just have one, I'll have the whole pack. So therefore I just have to quit it all, completely, and cold turkey, no weening off because that doesn't work for me.

I had such a craving for a hot chocolate this evening. Urgh. I know it will be worth the sacrifice over time!

Days 3 and 4 are the hardest (with any addiction).

I'm so tired and just want to bathe in a tub on Oreos. But I know This To Shall Pass and I'll start feeling better soon.

How is it going? Sorry I've not been back. Been busy. I have to say I was struggling the last few weeks but today I didn't crave any. I had some though because I was wfh and not very busy I guess. But the need wasn't there. I need help.

MBM18 · 04/08/2023 11:06

How are you getting on OP? I really need to do this I'm addicted to sugar
