Is there a suitable weightloss medication that can be taken when you have an underactive thyroid and take lyvothyroxine?
I looked at Orlistat but it doesn't seem suitable, I have 3.5 stone to lose and a bmi of 32. Doing healthy eating and exercise and lost a stone last year.

I lost 8 stone with diet alone and I have Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism.

If you lost weight with diet before why not keep going and avoid the nasty side effects of medication?

I have underactive thyroid and am on 100mg of levothyroxine. My BMI is 39.4. I've just last week been prescribed orlistat by the GP but I haven't taken it yet as I'm a bit scared of the side effects, I've just started a thread on it actually.

Thanks, I will take a look, I dint think my gp will prescribe orlistat but I'm assuming you are able to buy it along side a consultation online?

I’m in the same boat. I’d love to hear from other people who have taken orlistat on levothyroxine and if it effected their blood results at all / need adjustment. I take my thyroxine first thing in the morning and don’t eat until 11 am ish so I’m presuming that when I take the first orlistat pill late morning my thyroxine would have been absorbed by then and therefore no interaction?
