How to know what’s water weight and what’s fat loss?

I’ve been dieting gently for a month and my morning weigh-ins tell me I’ve lost about 2.5Kg.
There’s been lots of day-to-day fluctuations but generally the trajectory has been down.

How can I tel how much is water weight? Is it the first X number of days that are usually water, or the first X number of Kg / lb? How can I estimate if I have actually lost any fat?

I take measurements and use a fat calculator rather than measure body weight. I then track my change in body fat %. I have a little spreadsheet in excel with my measurements and body fat!

Army Body Fat Calculator

The army body fat calculator estimates the fat content in one's body with a formula used by the US Army.
