My weight loss

kingofchaos · 09/07/2023 09:44

I have lost 18lbs since the beginning of this year, mainly through eating better ( Gousto) and cutting back a lot on the booze.

Also started running again and do weight workouts at home - if anyone wants some recommendations let me know.

I think I've done well so far.. still a way to go but my clothes are definitely fitting better again. 💪

Well done 👏

I love your dress! Where is it from please?

SarahC50 · 09/07/2023 09:48

You look amazing very well done with the weight loss. Any tips very welcome x

Thank you!

@thenewaveragebear1983 it's from Sugarhill Brighton. They do some lovely bright dresses and not overly expensive 👍🏼

Main tips for me are eating proper meals where I know the calorie count. Gousto is really good for me as OH and I tend to eat massive portions.. this way I can choose recipes knowing what cal count they have, plus no waste!

Weight workouts-check out Rebecca Louise on YouTube. Her workouts are short but manageable. They really work for me.

@kingofchaos how tall are you and what is your start/end weight? I’ve lost 14lbs since the start of the year and I don’t look any different at all . I’m completely stalled at 14lbs lost as well now, I just lose and pound/gain a pound over and over again 🤦‍♀️

kingofchaos · 09/07/2023 10:12

I'm 5ft 7 and started the year at 12st 1, which is the heaviest ( inc pregnancies) I have ever been.

I'm now 10st 10 and aiming for 10st. I do find my weight stalls massively from time to time and it is really hard to stay motivated, but I will stay tgat weights and weight bearing exercise helps me to lose weight far more effectively than cardio.

I'm 50 for context and on HRT which I think helps.

@kingofchaos you are the same height as me and had the same starting weight! I’m now 11.1 and I’m finding it really hard to break the 11st barrier and stay under there, I dip below and then put on 3lbs and go back over. It’s very frustrating.

You’ve inspired me!

SarahC50 · 09/07/2023 23:02

@kingofchaos thankyou for the tips I'll definitely look up the exercise. Xx

kingofchaos · 09/07/2023 23:12

@thenewaveragebear1983 I have had exactly the same problem.. I struggled to get into the 10's.. my weight was up and down every day. It took about 2 months to break into the 10's, amd again I've struggled to get below 10st 11ish.

I think honestly it's just harder as you get older, but I really would recommend more weight bearing workouts as they seem to be what actually finally tips the scales for me, plus my clothes definitely feel better when I do weights regularly.

Running is great for fitness, but for me it doesn't yield the same results.

Well done! You look stunning! I'm on a weight loss kick right now. Put on a lot of weight during lockdown isolation, then had a heart issue that made it difficult to do anything. Finally got the all-clear from the docs to get back to a proper fitness routine, and I'm actually excited (never thought I'd say that about exercise)! I've lost 3lbs so far just with diet, but I'm nearing 40 and concerned it will take much longer than before to get back to my healthy weight. So it's great seeing posts like this from other women who aren't 20 any more. It gives me hope. You are around my goal weight too. I'll be very happy if I can get a figure like yours!

Also love the dress, perfect for the summer! I refused to throw away any of my old clothes, as I know I don't want to stay this size. I've been wearing them anyway with long tops (just can't do up any zips/buttons!). I actually managed to do up one pair of jeans today. I can't move or breathe in them, but hey... progress! 🙃

I'll definitely check out the weight YT vids, as I really have no clue what I'm doing with exercise. I've always just walked a lot and that was enough to stay slim. But now I want to drastically tone up and build strength. But I'm a bit intimidated by all of the bodybuilding sites I've found so far. There's several local gyms near me, but I'm a bit scared to actually walk into one (as stupid as that sounds). It just brings back memories of being routinely humiliated and yelled at in P.E lessons! 😂I'd rather tone up a bit at home first.

kingofchaos · 12/07/2023 19:59

@Emma000 thank you so much! And congrats on your weight loss! Once tou get on a roll it's so much more motivating!

Give weights a go.. I haven't been running for over a week as have been too exhausted after work, but have managed to do my 10ish minute weight workouts which seem to make more diffierence to my actual inch loss.

Hi OP. In what way does HRT help?

You look good by the way! Lovely outfit.

kingofchaos · 12/07/2023 20:09

I think for me, it's helped my MH generally.

I was at a very low ebb at the end of last year, medicating with too much alcohol and AD's. My periods were horrendous, heavy and immobilising.

HRT has helped stabilise my hormones and regulated my periods.

That has given me the mental space to actually focus on myself and clean up my act.
