the rediscovered joy of being hungry before a meal

I have recently rediscovered that it's actually nice to feel a bit hungry and look forward to a meal, I've always grazed throughout the day and frequently spoiled my appetite, although I'd eat the main dinner anyway. When I did my last diet and cut out snacking I found I was actually experiencing a bit of hunger and when it came to having dinner etc, it made the meal more pleasurable. I know this is obvious but I'd totally lost touch with my hunger sensations over years of bad eating habits, anyone else feel the same?

Yes, I get that! It's nice to actually feel ready for a meal. And because I've not been eating all afternoon I actually really enjoy the meal. I'm more interested in cooking / food shopping too.

I think you can also appreciate the tastes of foods more if you are genuinely hungry for them and not eating "just because".

When losing weight or reaching your goals, I can't believe how much I used to eat. I think I would find it difficult to go back to eating as much (and mostly unhealthy) as I did. I think your tastes change when slimming and you often dislike foods you used to enjoy. I know I can't stomach anything fatty, salty and sugary.
