Unreliable scales - weigh differently in different spot?

I have some Salter digital scales - approx 3 years old, well looked after. I weighed myself this morning and put the scales on a different spot on the hard bathroom floor than normal and having previously weighed 63.9kg, this morning they showed 64.9. I was a bit miffed because I don't feel like I've put on weight, and thinking it would make no difference I moved them to my normal spot - on the same hard floor just a different bit of the room, and weighed again - 63.3kg.

So now I cannot trust my scales? Or does it really make a fundamental difference to their function where exactly you place them within a room even though it's exactly the same floor and sub floor everywhere? I am aware that they won't work the same on carpet and hard floor but this is not that.

I've had this. Our scales now stay in the same place and I'm more just focused on the trend. It is weird though.

Feel like I need to make out exactly where on the floor they need to sit 😂
Frustrating

Just do what everyone does and work out the spot where you weigh the least and always do it there!

I keep ours on a flat piece of 1cm thick plywood slightly bigger than the scales. Most hard floors are not perfect, one of the corners not having the same amount of contact with the floor is why you get different readings in different places.

It makes no difference if you weigh 63 or 64. Just keep the scale in the same spot and weigh yourself there.
