Getting myself Together

Right.

There are 183 days between July 1st and December 31st.

I am going to make one small change each day to support better nutrition and improved physical and mental health.

I need to lose weight but I really want the focus to be on getting healthier and achieving functional fitness.

I plan to start simply...increase my daily activity level and cut out any crap food.

Starting this thread for accountability, would love some company!

So what’s your small change for today?!

Quillow · 29/06/2023 11:44

Technically I'm starting on Saturday 😉

But today, I'm increasing my water intake 😎

i have never understood that.

Delaying making a positive change to your life and diet.

Lesssugarketchup · 29/06/2023 11:46

Make the positive change for today that you start today and not Saturday

Quillow · 29/06/2023 11:49

Good point!

I agree with @Lesssugarketchup
The whole "diet starts Monday" drives me insane. People binge over the weekend knowing they can't on Monday, but then struggle come Monday as their body is craving what it's been used to!
Not saying you're being that extreme! I just think change should start there and then.
Good luck!

Good Luck with your changes OP - I think it is a good idea to put a line in the sand and say from that date things will change. I cannot believe that people are criticising you for this.

I would love to join you from the 1st July.

Why are you so concerned about the date? Surely the important thing is someone is making changes to improve their health.

I have no problem with you starting on 29th June - go for it.

Lesssugarketchup · 29/06/2023 13:40

its a delay tactic.

good luck

florenceandthemac · 29/06/2023 15:36

Nobody is actually criticising the OP. It was just suggested that it's a good idea to start now instead of delaying

Quillow · 30/06/2023 09:55

@FiveShelties welcome aboard! Do you have something you want to achieve/an area you want to work on?

I understand what people are saying about delay tactics/ putting things off.
If you are the kind of person who can decide on a course of action and immediately implement it, that's fantastic, more power to you! But not everyone's brain works that way, for a whole host of reasons.

Starting on the 1st of a month appeals to my sense of order 😉Having a 6 month time line gives me a medium term goal to work towards. And having a day or 2 before I begin means I can meal plan/ food shop and work out when I can fit in exercise around my family's needs/work. So technically, you might say that I have started already but I will still hold onto July 1st as my start date.

Each to their own I suppose! Everyone welcome 🤗

Checking back in!

I've lost 3lbs this past week! I focused on a better morning routine, 3 meals and 2 snacks a day and some gentle exercise. My energy levels are improving and I've reduced my caffeine intake.

Looking forward to the week ahead 🤗
