I'm stuck! How do I lose more?!

Hi.

I've been up and down about 9lb the past few years.

Various things going on in life including death and my own health issues.

Whenever I lose weight I manage really well to lose those 9lb.

I've done it again quite easily but I seem to get stuck at this weight once I get there. Previously it's been the cause of me giving up (I think but unintentionally).

I do not want to this time.

I've decreased my calories again but I'm already 300 a day under the recommended amount of calories recommended for me to lose 1.5lb a week.

Any suggestions?

I find diets so hard to stick to because I end up craving the foods I've cut out.

So I've massively changed my diet and upped my walking.

I'm no longer getting hungry and craving the wrong foods as a quick fix. I'm no longer even wanting much in the way of sweets and chocolate which was a side effect I didn't expect!

I have

Overnight oats made with a muller yoghurt for breakfast.

Cous cous, red onion, peppers and chicken for lunch.

Dinner is usually chicken or ham. Grapes, beetroot and sometimes rice cakes.

I also have extra grapes and the poppits lentil crisps.

If I'm extra hungry I have hard boiled eggs, apple, toast.

If I have a sweet tooth I make hot chocolate.

OP the above diet that you used to be on… is brilliant!

Maybe I need to go back to that? 🫣🤣

I fell off it because I got very unwell and was unable to walk because my legs got really bad. I also lost the 9lb on that so it obviously worked.

I wish I knew the simple answer but because my lifestyle is so unusual in the times I'm out the house I'm really having to try and find a diet around my lifestyle - unfortunately I don't have freedom to put my lifestyle around a diet. I'm sure that would easier though!!!!!

For the poster that said about checking my urine I've had blood tests etc from GP because of all the problems but everything is fine. We think it was my bodies reaction to grief I'd suffered the previous year as it happened at the same time.

But one things for sure - I'm determined to find something that works Grin

You must be starving.

I am 10st and eat:

2x sourdough, 2x tbsp hummus, 1/2 an avocado, 2x poached eggs and sweet chilli sauce just for breakfast!

lunch is leftovers, today was pasta bolognese with loads of cheese

dinner will be a Thai green curry with basmati rice

also had about 4 squares of dark chocolate.

i only drink water and 1 can of fizz a day.

I'm actually not hungry at all. Is that weird?!

Losing weight is about consistency. Eat a set amount of calories every single day.

What you're eating isn't great, as other posters have commented, what you were eating previously was better.

Right.

Back to what I was eating previously it is then 🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

And stick to it for 4 weeks and then reevaluate as I've learned it's not linear and I have to be patient!!!!!

This is the sort of advice I need. It's so frustrating when people just type "you're obviously calorie counting wrong" as if I'm an idiot who doesn't have a degree in maths so can do simple addition Wink

Thanks all. I've learned loads and lots to put into practice.

Wish me luck Grin

Interesting thing is that I'm getting more dehydrated despite drinking loads and weeing much more.

So I'm going to up my fluids even more.

Unfortunately I can't eat any earlier in evening because I'm not home. But will look at brown rice as an alternative because that's a positive choice I can make.

You need to be checked for diabetes. Don't put this off.

Also, sorry to ask, but what digestive issues were you experiencing with gluten?

Please read the book I recommended - and you'll understand why the focus on calories isn't helping you!

My sugar is fine. It was checked.

Ferritin is normal again after surgery last year.

FSH and thyroid normal. Hb normal.

Creatinine normal but is slightly lower than normal but not worryingly so.

If I eat wheat then I get really really bloated, very tired, red arms with little spots on and my digestive system slows right down and I pass a lot of orange mucus.

I will do.

It's on my list of things to do to tackle this.

Well this is odd but that was pretty much my starting weight and I'm the same height! I have just lost 1 stone 4lb in 10 weeks, I ate 1500 calories a day, drank 2 litres of water and tried to do 30 minutes of exercise at least 3 times a week (just brisk walking nothing strenuous!). Now on maintenance calories for a few weeks before I try and shake another half a stone.

So I've lost 9lb in 4 weeks so there is hope that I could reach 1st 4 too after 10 weeks? 🤞🤞🤞🤞

I just need some more patience and hope by Sunday - end of week 5 I shift another lb

I would definitely say so, I really hope you achieve it, such a good feeling and I'm sure you will! I would say stick at 1500 calories instead of being up and down between 1200-1500 as PP's have suggested. Good luck, let us know how you get on 😊.
