Hi I am still breastfeeding my dd who is nearly 14 months old. She is eating solids etc but I am still bfeeding her on demand throughout the day and she feeds several times during night etc. Given that I am bfeeding does anyone know how many calories I should be eating to maintain my weight and how many calories I need to eat to lose weight? Many thanks

I have been told you need an exra 500 calarories a day if breastfeeding and it is not recommended to try and lose too much weight if you are breastfeeding as it can effect the quality of your milk, however this depends on what you weigh now and what excersice you do and the quality of your diet. what is your goal?

Hi thanks grouphug. I now weigh between 9.6 and 9.8 (stone) at the moment and before I was pregnant I weighed about 8.12 so I need to lose about 10 lbs or so. I haven't put on any weight since giving birth and I have slowly been losing it but I have been at my current weight since xmas. I was going to the gym regularly for about 1/2 hour to 40 mins at a time but recently I haven't managed this.
