1month in and not losing weight

I’m 18months pp with DC2, I had been eating nonesense all the time (share packs of snacks every night and no exercise at all). 1 month ago I started running (only ~10/15mins x3/week) and cut out the rubbish during the week, but still no change on scales and feeling more bloated as well.
is this normal?

did anyone else struggle?

TIA

Are you in a calorie deficit?

waistchallenge · 20/06/2023 22:52

Periods normal? 🤔

I would track your calories and monitor your steps. 45 minutes of running a week isn’t a lot and might give you permission to eat back more calories then you burnt.

.It can also kid you that you are being more active than you are if you got 5k steps with you run on those three days and are getting 3k the rest of the week.

Cutting out crap is great but a little vague, peanut butter is great but calorific, cutting it out in the week gives you the leeway to eat loads and drink plenty of alcohol from midday Friday until you go to bed on Sunday.

I would definitely be a little more detailed about what you are doing.

It’s very hard to know you are improving something unless you track it.

So the only way you are going to know how much difference you are making is if you track your calories and track your steps.

You're probably only burning around 50 calories with each run, so while it's great you're getting active, be careful not to overestimate the energy burn and overeat calories because you've exercised.

If it makes you feel any better I am 12 months pp and since April have been doing more toning exercises, resistance training, walking and watching what I eat. My weight on the scales hasn’t really budged for whatever reason BUT I’m finding clothes fit better and I’m more happy with my figure when looking in the mirror. Basically keep going,
refining your approach, and don’t focus on the scales too much to track progress. Use clothes to track progress instead.

You say you’ve cut it in the week… are you going mad at weekends?

AlltheQs · 21/06/2023 17:44

Thanks. Very much for the responses. I think I needed a dose of reality.
TBH I am eating more unhealthy at weekends, not awful but not strict. I think I had just hoped that as my weight was stable before, that with a general increase in exercise and eating less day-to-day I would see some results, even if they were slow.

I know I need to just be more strict, but with both toddlers up 3-4times overnight, I’m so exhausted and just struggle battling snacking!
