Since developing rheumatoid arthritis 16 months ago , (not on any treatment yet seeing consultant in 2 weeks )
I've liked 2 stone on

nOTHING I own fits me

I am so immobile I'm working from home so I stay in pjs .

I eat fruit or salad for lunch and then have a cooked evening meal - hello fresh usually if not it's something like new potatoes, steak and salad .

No sweets , biscuits or cakes ever

I do however drink wine and snack at night on a sausage roll or a packet of crisps .

I can't swim so that's out as n exercise
Walking even the shortest distance causes massive pain and swelling in my ankles feet and knees

I might be gluten intolerant- so avoiding for now . Seems to make me bloat and causes stomach issues .

How the hell do I lose this two stone ?
Wondering if I could try some kind of low impact static workout like hitt?

I hate myself right now - my body is gross . I'm avoiding invites out . I've always been a size 10/12 at 9st 12

Now I'm 12 stone with not a stitch to wear , no funds to buy a new wardrobe and miserable . I reckon I'd be a size 14 /16 now . I don't own any clothes of that size so I'm lounging about in pjs .

Any ideas ? I keep seeing that Pilates wall challenge .....wondering if that could work ?

Nb - prior to this I used to walk 10k steps a day , run , yoga and hitt - also had a frontline job so was super active.

Now that can't get upstairs in less than 5 minutes.

You won't lose weight with excercise or if you do it will be very little. It's down to diet. I'm really pro slimming world as I've just lost 3 stone and it's been really easy. You have to find something that suits you though. First thing would be ditch the wine and sausage rolls. RA is rotten, a friend has it and finds excercise really hard.

Get yourself some comfy leggings or linen trousers and T shirts to see you through until you lose the weight, it won't make you feel good at all being in pajamas all day. Good luck with your appt.

Some exercise will be beneficial for rheumatoid arthritis, I would suggest finding a video on you tube you can follow e.g

Weight loss is however largely diet. I have found reducing starchy carbs (bread, potatoes, rice, pasta) hugely beneficial and cutting out all ultra processed food. I don't bother counting calories but have lost loads of weight doing this without feeling hungry. I also try to eat in a 8-10 hour window.

I am so sorry that you are going through this.

I would do some research into what diet and exercises are best for that condition. Alcohol, crisps and sausage rolls are unlikely to be included, so I would probably think about cutting those out for now and swap for fruit possibly.

Whilst I agree exercising won’t help you massively to loose it might help you to keep mobile and help your condition and keep you sane.

I do walking workouts amongst other things, there are loads on YouTube. I like Get Fit with Rick, there are ones from 10 minutes to an hour and it might be that you can only do a few minutes at a slower pace but see what the medical advice is.
