Hi,

After 7 days proven exercise evidenced by Fitbit at 5 hours 6 mins, drinking 2 litres of water per day, I managed to gain 1lb this week, after an unexpected 2.5 days pumping out deep red period, after less 10 days previous menstruation to the point I’ve idea where no ovulation is.

I don’t want to take the pill and will be telling the gyne this, I’ve read stories of where this leads to weight gain and gyne’s telling you to lose weight ; one issued a weight band loss before carrying out a hysterectomy even. How did it allow a 3 stone loss to begin with?

It’s mostly diet for weight loss tbh.
I started calorie counting to lose weight before my hysterectomy (fibroids & endometriosis) because I didn’t want them to be cutting into blubber.

Im not sure I’m following the rest of your post, but I’ve lost over 3 stone in total. However, they wouldn’t do a hysterectomy until I’d first tried the Mirena coil and then P.O.P- both of which left me bleeding worse than I was without them. You have my sympathy.

Have you had your thyroid checked? My periods were horrific before finally hitting "bad enough to need medication".

Also, unopposed oestrogen/excess oestrogen cN cause weight gain. Which is linked to the thyroid thing and why women can gain weight in menopause

there can be up to 2kg fluctuation due to the cycle. mostly water retention. the heat slso makes our bodies retain water.

agree with pp exercise burn astonishingly few calories, weight loss is 80% diet.

weigh yourself over a month and see how you go compared to your cycle. and also write down anything that you eat and drink during that time.

declutteringmymind · 13/06/2023 06:57

I'd say water retention. Give it another few days and drink plenty. The heat won't be helping

If you have been exercising/ watching your food for one week I wouldn’t necessarily expect any weight loss.

if your fibroids are still growing you’re not going to see huge changes on the scales but good diet and exercise will make you healthier.

are you on a waiting list for a hysterectomy?

Menora · 13/06/2023 07:49

i had to have a hysterectomy mine would not stop growing. All bloods completely normal and never found out why they grew like they did. My gynae never told me to lose weight either although I did try before surgery
