No weight loss but inch loss

Hi everyone

I’m really struggling. The scales say I’ve not lost any weight for 3 months but this is a comparison between then and now.

I try not to weigh myself often so wonder if I need to weigh more and whether the fact I eat dinner at 8.30pm and weigh at 7am may be impacting this too.

does anyone have any words of support? I must admit I’ve been quite upset about this.

thank you xxx

That’s amazing progress! Very well done! ⭐️

I totally get what you mean about being down hearted about not losing weight but you have lost loads of inches - it’s really obvious.

Maybe take measurements and then you can see a starting point and progress. BUT you can really see you’ve lost inches. I bet your clothes are hanging differently too!

Idrankyourbananamilk · 03/06/2023 21:03

I think the difference between the two pictures is very obvious, you’ve trimmed up and look very fit in the second picture. Obviously more toned.

If you’ve been working out, you might have burned off lots of fat but built up a bit of muscle. That could account for the weight being similar. I’m not a big fan of scales to be honest. Measurements are a much better indicator.

You look fab.

mulberrybag5 · 03/06/2023 21:10

Thank you both xxx I do exercise and run quite a bit - main motivation was to have less body weight to carry round with me so I could run faster!! Do you think I should weigh daily for say 2 weeks to see?

I think weekly weight checks are less likely to get a bit obsessive, which I think is the danger with scales. Perhaps a weekly weight check along with a couple of measurements? That might be reassuring if the scales don’t move but the tape measure does!

mulberrybag5 · 03/06/2023 21:35

i did monthly measurements but think you’re right. I find the scales really negative but I’d really like a lower number!

Ignore the scales, your progress in amazing, well done, you should be immensely proud of yourself.

Would you rather be a size 8 and weigh 12 stone or a size 12 and weigh 8 stone?

Numbers on scales mean nothing if you're exercising and building muscle, you're burning fat reserves which are lighter and creating denser heavier muscles.

It doesn't matter when you eat, it matters what you eat.

LBFseBrom · 03/06/2023 21:51

You are certainly much leaner in the second picture, op, so you're doing something right. If you've been exercising you've built up healthy muscle so don't worry about the weight.

mulberrybag5 · 03/06/2023 22:09

I think I’m attaching a lot of importance to the number on the scales. I am in a calorie deficit too and have always lost weight that way so it’s just been really stressing me out! Suspect it’s my age too lol

Well done OP, you look great.
I've got a similar issue in that I have been doing resistance training 2-3 times a week for the last 3 months, which I love - but have barely lost anything on the scale. I can see that I have toned up though, and have lost an inch or two all over, plus I haven't changed me eating at all.

I'm not even overweight so it wasn't my aim to lose weight really, I just wanted to get fitter, but I think we're just conditioned to watch the scales, so I was surprised that I lost basically nothing.

Anyway, I'm trying to focus on getting stronger and being happy with that.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/06/2023 12:31

You're looking really good, a definite change there. At the risk of stating the obvious, if you are weighing at home, are you absolutely sure your scales are correct? Is it worth checking, weighing at Boots or wherever?!

KetoQueen · 04/06/2023 12:34

I weigh monthly, the first day my period has finished. First thing in the morning. Scales in the same position and after a wee. I honestly think it’s counter productive weighing more frequently than that.

anyway your progress pics look great 👍

mulberrybag5 · 04/06/2023 14:06

I did wonder this but my husband weighs on them and he’s losing weight according to the scales!

You look different OP, definitely. More toned and fit. How do your clothes feel?

mulberrybag5 · 04/06/2023 17:14

They feel a bit looser but I’m still the same clothes size x

So I weighed myself today! 5 pounds off! It must have just been days I was weighing more that I kept getting on the scales!
