Weight fluctuations. What do I really weigh?!

Last week I started at 12 stone 7. On Wednesday I was 12 stone 8.5! Then Friday I was 12 stone 5. I assumed it was water weight I had midweek, so thought I'd actually lost my expected 2 lbs in the week.

However this Monday I was back at 12 stone 8, yesterday 12 stone 9! I am sticking to my diet, I'm certainly not eating enough to be putting weight on. But how could the scales say I was 12 stone 5 if I wasn't?

I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks and really wanted to be down to 12 stone. I know it's just a number but it's psycological! Thanks.

How could the scales say you were 12 stone 5 if you weren't? Well, unless your scales are faulty.. you were 12 stone 5! At the point you stepped on them!? Weight fluctuates depending on fluid retention, your bowels, all sorts of things. Those numbers don't seem wild to me.

Weigh yourself once a week, first thing in the morning.

Weigh yourself once a week at the same time on the same tile on the bathroom floor, don't put the scales on carpet.

Weigh yourself at the same time, on the same day every week. No more than that. That way madness lies.

I would say weight daily and go for the lowest weight that week.

Scale weight fluctuates wildly every single day. Depends on all kind of things like hormones, when you last ate, fluid, exercise intensity and bowel habits.
If you weight weekly you might step on the scale and one of the above fluctuations might occur telling you you've gained weight which is very demotivating. Better imo to weigh daily and look for a general downward trend.

Yes, I usually do just one day a week (Monday) I have weighed myself again a few times because of the weight gain as I was wondering if it was water etc- the 12 stone 7 was actually no change from the previous week which is why I looked again on Wednesday!

Weighing yourself once a week is disastrous if the psychological impact gets to you. It does me. Say you weigh 12.5 one Monday and 12.9 the next. You’d be distraught and think why bother and eat something.

I am very disordered here and I weigh morning and night though. I know I am always 5lbs lighter in the morning after going to the loo.

Stop weighing yourself so often, it’s not helpful as weight isn’t linear.

Bodies are mostly water. If you’ve exercised, body hold water. Eaten carbs? Holds water. Look at it over a longer period of time or prepare for these pointless highs and lows which mean nothing.
