Steps into calorie counting

Started lo carbing yesterday and trying to 'up' my exercise, which shouldn't be hard as I have a very sedentary desk based job. Today I've done 11,714 steps which translates on the My Fitness app as a miserly 71 calories expended. Rubbish really.

MFP also then gives you extra calories to eat back, stalling weight loss, better not to add the exercise to it.
Exercise isn’t great for weight loss, it’s mostly diet tbh, but exercise is great for cardiovascular health, toning etc so don’t be disheartened. Just be chuffed that you are doing something you weren’t previously doing and taking steps to improve your diet and fitness!

I wouldn’t use that app to calculate calories spent. Good for tracking food but useless for exercise. Get an Apple Watch for that!
