are you drinking enough water and eating enough fruit and veg?

Hiya,

I have never liked water so dont tend to drink it. But I do drink quite a lot of redbush (rooibos) tea which is supposed to be as good for you as water. No caffiene and a lot less tannines (whatever those are).

As to fruit and veg, I have never been keen on fruit either. But I eat a lot of veg, I also eat seeds (linseed, sunflower, pumpkin) every day.

I take fibersure in my tea 3 x a day.

Not sure what else I can do really.

I dont think these probs are entirely down to my diet as I have suffered irritable bowel in the past which has made me very constipated. So it could just be a flare up I suppose.

Depending on your weight, you need to be drinking between 2 and 4 litres of water a day, otherwise you might get a bit constipated. Water is boring and horrible, i know (been there, done that) but once you start drinking it you'll be surprised at how much of a thirst for it you get.

Will second the water thing. I'm low carbing, I dont eat any fruit, but have my 5 portions of veg every day. I do drink real coffee and tea, in addition to aiming for 4 pints of water, although 6 pints would be ideal. I dont have constipation, but I know what a pain it can be, good luck.

Thanx for the advice, I am trying to increase my water intake (not hard as I wasn't having any before). So here is my plan, every time I fancy a cup of tea (generally have 3 cups of tetley and about 5/6 cups of rooibos per day) I drink a glass of water before hand.

Do you think that'll work? It will mean i'm averaging about 8 glasses of water a day plus the 5/6 cups of rooibos which is supposed to hydrate you.

8 glasses a day is fine, but why dont you just drink the water throughout the day, rather than before you have a cup of tea. I've heard that if you gulp the water down, it comes out quicker and has less chance to flush out toxins and do whatever else it's meant to do inside your body. You're better off taking regular slurps if you can.
