In Germany ozempic Is only now available to patients with a diabetes diagnosis. I am being told that this will become the rule in UK and Ireland? Anyone know?

Ozempic has always only been available on the NHS in the UK to Type II diabetics. Any other use is off-label and only available via a private prescription. I can't actually see how this could change. However, once Wegovy is available (same drug rebranded for weightloss), that will be available on the NHS but with really restrictive criteria. The sum total will be that most people with still need a private prescription for it. I'm not uber-conversant but i don't think this is substantially different from the situation in Germany.

I live in Germany. Some pharmacies have stated that due to manufacture delays the reason for the medication must now be written on the prescription. Not all pharmacies stipulate though. Also one used to be able to order it online to be picked up but now this isn’t possible. One must go into the store and hope they have a supply.

I'm on it for diabetes (UK) and my last prescription label had changed to specify its for diabetes. According to my Pharmacist they have to order it through a seperate system now due to increased demand for weight loss reasons.

It certainly looks like new rules are on the horizon, they need to prioritise it for diabetes use when there's shortages.
