im probably about 15 stone 6 i would say and 5’2” i started losing weight at the start of this year but came off the diet and now i cant get back on it! i want to be about 12 stone before summer or even less would be great! but i just dont know how! i want to try fasting and 24 hour fasting every now and again but im scared ill have a weight rebound or even give myself an ed. i do horse riding and i want to be able to ride more horses hence why i want to lose weight. 24 hour fasting + exercise seems like the easiest option but i dont want my body to go into starve mode. can someone please help?

I think it’s unrealistic to lose that much weight in that amount of time. Slower weight loss is better for all round consistency.

I would aim for a stone

What do you mean by summer anyway, July? August?

You have 4 months until the end of August. You would be hard pushed to lose 2 stone by then, you could lose a stone in 6 weeks with a really structured plan like the fast 800 diet, but after that, it would slow considerably because of the way the body works. I think the first bit of the fast 800 is over 8 weeks anyway.

Actually my maths is terrible, you have 16 weeks.

Theoretically you could lose just under 2lbs a week and lose 2 stone by then but it would be very difficult to keep up that consistency due to the speed of it.

However even if you went for 1.5lbs a week, you could then lose 1.5 stone, which isnt to be sniffed at. It would still be quite difficult over that timescale though.

I've lost 2stone with Slimming World since Christmas. It's a sensible, achievable, sustainable diet and the weekly group meeting and weigh in are really encouraging and focus your mind. I've been 3 stone overweight for years and had tried and failed so many times before this.

@BungalowLil

Same. I am so happy following this plan. The weight is coming off sustainably and I’ve struggled for years. Wish I did it years ago.

@Easterfunbun Well done! I should have joined years ago too.

I'd recommend Slimming World. You don't need to join - just research it and follow it which is what I did roughly. I don't do any syns though but I don't beat myself up if I have a bit of something I shouldn't. I've done diets for years and been up and down but I've never lost weight as quickly and consistently as I have this time. I've lost 3 stone since last July. It's slowed down now but I think I've been slipping a little bit so have pulled myself back into line.
I've done intermittant fasting before and it does work, but it's hard work with hunger and very slow. You may only lose half a pound a week. With this diet I was losing 1.5 to 2lb a week the first few months and was not hungry.
My advice would be to try and consider it a change in eating habits rather than a diet. For the first time ever I feel like I've changed and will keep it off.
I did no exercise either and still lost weight.
Good luck with it.
