Finally plucked up the courage to weigh myself this morning and am disgusted with myself - was aware my size was creeping but now have 3 stone to lose, have also noticed starting to feel out of breath and generally a big blah.

Have signed up to Noom on a trial to track my calories and am going to up my exercise- there's a ladies beginners running group nearby I'm going to try and hoping to get into an aqua class.

Just wanted to say hi really

Hi! Hope it goes well and keep us updated on the progress.

I had gone up close to 2stone, which on my small frame, I really noticed. Like you I had ignored it too long. I gave up sugar and flour..takes a bit of getting used to but not as restrictive as it sounds and no calorie counting or particular exercise needed. It's been life changing so said I would share. The weight dropped off.

Well done @mikado1 - but how on earth did you do it. Giving up sugar and flour - so no bread, pasta, wraps, ready meals, sauces, no eating out or takeaways. What do you eat?! How is it not restrictive.

I thought the same honestly, and yes it took a week or so to get my head round the coulds instead of the couldn'ts. I love good food which helps so I'll have a plate of veg with my pasta sauce and plenty of cheese. Eating out is no problem- last weekend I had steak with mushrooms, onions and steamed veg. For breakfast I have oats with berries (no other fruit at this point). At home dinners are roast dinners, light on potato but was never a big potato person, lasagna with creme fraiche and aubergine instead of usual sauce and sheets. I have upped the good fats and stick to three meals. It seems to be that the stable lower blood sugars mean cravings and even hunger itself really subsides. I'm really enjoying the meals I am eating and as I say no obsessing about calories, just food I eat and food I don't. Omelette, salads and soups are favourites for lunch. Takeaways are a no, true. I wouldn't ever have been a ready meal person. I feel so much freer, it's hard to believe.

I have meatballs, bolognese with veg, chicken curry (homemade) with veg etc. Really I see why you think it's restrictive but it's not compared to having Xg of Y on a diet plan and feeling hungry etc. As I say it's been so freeing and the weight has dropped quickly, 21lbs in first 8 weeks. Plenty of meals out etc in that time.

Hope you've had a good first week OP.
