Help! I caught sight of myself in the mirror today in the changing rooms...

...and I'm fat. I was aware that the weight had been creeping up, but the cellulite is awful. Is there anything I can do? Post-menopausal, mid-50s, Has anyone successfully reduced their cellulite? I have a big holiday coming up in the summer, I would really like to make some improvements by then. Any advice gratefully received.

Just me then! When I find the cure for cellulite I’ll keep it to myself if nobody else has this problem.

Lose weight and strengthen muscles

Surely you know that though ?

Firstly, changing room lighting is notoriously horrible!

Do you exercise at all? Committing to do something 3 times a week, drinking plenty of water, and starting to use a good body moisturiser will help (I’ve also heard of dry body brushing but I’ve never tried it!)

I also always think a) no one cares what you look like on holiday - everyone is just there to relax and b) once you can get a little bit of a tan (natural or fake - your preference!) the look improves too

Changing room mirrors are awful for making you feel rubbish so I wouldn't take their view as how you truly are. That said, I understand where you're at. I stupidly stepped on the scales yesterday. I got down to 9.5 stone in lockdown. I'm now 11.5! But I found my love for food again and I'm torn with enjoying myself and fitting into summer stuff I really enjoy wearing.

i started Noom last week. Trying to change bad habits slowly that I’ve picked up over the last two years. Im menopausal and have had the worst carb cravings and drank far too much wine. I’m two stone overweight and bloody miserable. So eating better not less and walking more is the plan.

Mykingdomforanap · 11/04/2023 07:39

I’ve been trying for years and just gain and gain. 2 stones to lose. It’s 12 weeks till my holiday so would like to lose one before that.

im going to stop making excuses for 84 days and sort my diet out. I weight train 3x a week. Going to add in a 4th. Off for a run now.

I think it's no secret and it's just simply eat less calories than you are using. I'm 59 and in the last year went from a size 16 to 10/12. I weighed everything I ate, drank water and exercised more. Cellulite on legs gone completely, still have a flabby tummy unfortunately but I'm ok with that. I thought I had left it too late to loose weight as everyone says it's harder menuopausal but the motivation after a doctor's chat that I was heading towards pre-diabetic scared me enough. Start today, eat 3 good meals a day, drink 2 litres of water and walk/run or whatever exercise you like.

Don't drink caffeine or alcohol. Drink lots of water. Exercise and eat less. Wear fake tan on holiday
