Orlistat

I've been on orlistat for 2 days now (today is day 3) and I'm still waiting to 1. Lose weight and 2. Have any side effects.
Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about no side effects but I suffer with constipation so was kind of hoping it would help move things along. Apparently not.
How long before I start seeing results? And are the dreaded side effects going to hit me at some point?

Yes they will do. It takes a few days. If you stick to low fat stuff and much of it you won’t see much in terms of side effects but I’d be suprised if you didn’t get any. You’ll certainly start pooping regularly. In terms of weight loss it’s just you get more for your efforts so if you’d normally lose 1lb a week based on your calorie intake, you might lose 2/3.

Eatentoomanyroses · 03/04/2023 10:12

I’d start wearing sanitary towels if I were you because the oil seepage is impossible to get out of clothes and it’s very smelly.

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/04/2023 10:16

I wear tena anyway as I'm urge incontinent due to unexplained numbness in the saddle and down one leg.

So hopefully I'll see results by Saturday then and hopefully I'll go more regular to the toilet.

I've lost - lot of weight with Orlistat and have only ever had one episode of erm side effects! But that was after I got pissed at a Christmas party and scoffed a kebab! I never have side effects usually but I am quite strict!

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/04/2023 12:40

That's good to hear. Not that you had a whoopsie but that you've only had the one and it was sort of your own drunk fault Grin note to self... no kebabs

I have got it from the GP ready to start but I'm a bit scared because of the oil! Used it a long time ago and it worked but the side effects were quite bad!

HerRoyalHappiness · 04/04/2023 07:39

@Penguinsmum hopefully you'll be OK this time.

Do you mind me asking what a typical day of eating looks like for you? I was prescribed this yesterday and I'm scared of the side effects too.

Rockingcloggs · 04/04/2023 13:30

@MirenaMisery

Breakfast - 2 weetabix and skimmed milk

Skinny bar (the ones from Home Bargains or B&M!)

Dinner - pasta, sweetcorn, peppers, tuna/chicken with light mayo or these noodle pots from Tesco (can't remember the name but they're about £3.50 in the vegan aisle and are lovely!)

Might have some quavers for a snack!

Tea - I pick anything out of a low calorie cook book to make from scratch! Lots of my meals will start with a passatta base or a creamy one made with low fat Philadelphia!

Either a skinny bar or yogurt at about 9pm!

And yes, it's breakfast dinner and tea!! I'm northern!

Rockingcloggs · 04/04/2023 13:30

Oh and I never have a main meal on a dinner plate! Always on a small pasta bowl!

HerRoyalHappiness · 04/04/2023 15:19

@Rockingcloggs oooh thank you for that and to @MirenaMisery for asking.
I'm also northern so completely agree with your meals. I even took the time today to edit the meal names in nutracheck Grin

Have you the Skinny Food Company White Chocolate dipping pots?!

£4.99 for 15 pots off the website! They're beautiful!

HerRoyalHappiness · 04/04/2023 16:50

I have the salted caramel dipping pots! They're so good

Thank you! That sounds rather doable! I'm a fellow northerner too ☺️

I have a 2 week course in my cupboard I'm to scared to use them as think I'll be to scared to eat has anyone got any typical days breakfast, lunch and dinner I can see so I know where not to go wrong, my typical day is special k choc/ choc weetabix with semi skimmed milk, lunch either skipped or a cereal bar/ packet of vegetable rice, dinner could be low fat sausages, home made chips and beans, bacon medallions, scrambled/fried eggs, with frylight frozen chips if in a rush, chicken in breadcrumbs you get the idea just want to know what I need to avoid, like can I do a wrap pizza with mozzarella?

lifeisafunnyoldgame · 30/07/2024 22:39

@Tg87xminee are due tomorrow. Happy to share the journey if you are? Could do with some moral support/accountability. Would be fab to share meal ideas too
