Diagnosed as having NAFLD.
Need to drop cholesterol and sort this ASAP as I have a history that f inflamed liver infections form childhood so feel particularly vulnerable and scared.
I had a diet high on sat fat and alcohol too so have cut way back
On alcohol and stopped cheese/ milk/ desserts straight away.
What will taste nice?
Excited but dreading it too !!!
Thanks.

Follow an unprocessed no oil vegan diet will eliminate most saturated fat. Go very easy on the nuts if you have them at all

caldwell Esselstyn has a lot about reducing cholesterol

‘What will taste nice?’ is impossible to say without knowing what types of foods you like. You’d be better off googling recipes based around either meats or vegetables you already like. A lot of recipes show you the nutritional breakdowns, so you can avoid any with lots of fat. Has the GP or consultant given any advice on this? Lots of chicken or other lean meat, you can get turkey mince for example. Lots of vegetables, and whatever herbs, sauces or spices you like. If you have a list of foods to avoid, literally any cookbook will help you start using new recipes.

Did your doctor also advise you to cut down on simple carbs and sugars? These also have a negative effect on the liver.

Take a look at the Mediterranean diet. Eat lots of vegetables (but cut down on white potatoes), some fish, chicken, beans/pulses and whole grains. You can have olive oil and small quantities of nuts and seeds. Don't eat too much fruit. Flavour your food with any herbs and spices that you like.

I find that traybakes are good for this sort of diet.
