Can I lose weight whilst pregnant?

I'm currently 14w pregnant and have already lost 12lbs since starting calorie counting a few weeks ago, I'm doing this mainly to be healthier as my BMI is obese and I want to feel good, but would also love to see the weight come off of me. My bump isn't visible as of yet, but when it does come about is it still possible for me to drop the weight? Has anyone lost loads of weight before during pregnancy in a healthy way?

I lost 3 stone in an unhealthy way (hyperemesis) but the baby was absolutely fine. They are the perfect parasite, they take everything they need and you get what’s left.

It’s worth talking to your midwife about it.

It might be more realistic to aim to maintain your weight - so “you” would actually be losing weight but the baby/bump getting heavier will offset it so you stay the same weight overall.
(Hope that makes sense - obviously it depends on your weight).

Make sure you’re eating regularly throughout the day, getting enough protein and a balanced diet.

I maintained my weight when pregnant with my third. I started off quite overweight and then was nicely trim after the birth. Being pregnant boosts your metabolism quite significantly so it's not hard. Just make sure you are eating lots of healthy food and it should be fine

I'm 34 weeks today and 16lb lighter than at the start. Midwives aren't bothered as baby is tracking perfectly 🤷‍♀️

I weighed less when I gave birth than I did when I was pregnant. I was no carb due to gestational diabetes.

*when I got pregnant.

Why on earth would you do this?

Eat healthy food (we all know what that means) but trying to loose weight in pregnancy?

Please talk to your midwife or doctors
