17 stone and only 22 weeks until my birthday

I need help. I'm exactly 17 stone. I have started calorie counting from today. No exercise just yet as I have weak ankles and knees so walking can cause more harm than good. My thought process is to try and lose a stone and a half and then start gentle walking.

Anyone want to join me for some motivation?

I will join! I was 17.12 last week and will weigh again in the morning and report back. I have 4 months until my birthday and will aim for 1.5 stone before then. I find it so so hard to stick too any sort of diet.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 16/02/2023 20:20

I've just eaten some baklava, which was amazing but so calorific. There was absolutely no nutritive value in it and I'm totally pissed off with myself.

coronafiona · 17/02/2023 03:48

I'll join too,, I need to get 4 off to be a healthy bmi and I haven't been that weight for 30 years Blush. Been calorie counting this week and intermittent fasting, for some reason I find it difficult to just stop eating after dinner, I could carry on all evening!

pigwood · 17/02/2023 05:39

Am I too late to join please? 16.10lb and only 4'11" so not carrying it at all well anymore . Desperate to try something

StLevanBlackcaps · 17/02/2023 06:20

I need to join! I’m around the same weight, have just hit 50 and am horrified by how I look in the photos 😩 I’m just not motivated though, every time I decide I’m going to eat sensibly it’s like my body says ‘no way’ and I go off piste within a few days. Is there anything new I can try that might actually work?

Morning everyone. Well after a few days away I have not put any lbs on so am still done this week by 2lbs. Obviously would have preferred more but a small loss is still a loss. As I'm writing this, my DP is making a cooked breakfast for everyone whixh smells divine, but I'm sticking to my yogurt and fruit.

Hop you have all had a good week. And if you haven't, don't worry. Today is a new day.

2 pound loss is great!

Before lockdown I did Zumba, clubbercise, gymnastics and water aerobics every week. During lockdown when everything closed I found online video classes and played Just Dance to replace these activities. Then I hurt my foot and the physio said not to do any of these exercises for awhile. Then I got pregnant. I am out most days and do loads with my little one but I weigh more than I did when I was pregnant, I don’t exercise and I eat far too much junk food.

I am thinking of limiting junk food to special occasions (when eating out or ordering takeaway) instead of just picking up McDonald’s for lunch or ordering takeaway because neither of us want to cook on random days. We can’t afford to keep doing that anyway so hopefully it will help financially too. I need to cut out dessert and sugary cereals too or at least cut down to having them no more than 1 or 2 days a week 🤔

I don’t want to count calories though as I have done that in the past and it wasn’t good for me. I need to start fitting in a couple of YouTube exercise videos a week to start getting healthy again too.

OK, I'm officially on the bandwagon! I did weigh in, 17 stone 12 lb. I am away at easter with the kids, so my first target will be 17 stone by 10th April. All going well, my next target will then be 16.7 by the May school holidays. I took some food out of the freezer before work to cook tonight to take in tomorrow. I will check in with you all in a few days and possibly look for some encouragement.

Highjinks01 · 21/02/2023 07:10

I’ll join you please! 17st 3 down from 18st but I need to get serious! Going to use the nutracheck app to track calories as it’s the only thing that works for me. Well, Keto works but I find it impossible to stick to. Actually having a holiday in the sun this year (it’s been a long time) and I can’t bear the thought of squeezing into clothes I hate and feeling rubbish on the beach. Giving up wine for lent and I know that’ll help.

Fantina · 21/02/2023 08:45

I’m also down from 18.5 to 17.6 since the start of the year. I just never feel like ‘me’ at this size so I want to feel at home in myself again. First of all I’m trying to eat regularly and proper meals, I’m terrible for skipping meals and grazing instead which, of course, means I eat too much crap compared to just having a proper meal.

dustydewdrop · 21/02/2023 09:50

Weighed myself this morning and 2lbs off so that’s half a stone in total in two weeks. Need to keep focused as I know the next half stone won’t come off as quickly.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 21/02/2023 09:56

The way I have lost is calorie counting and eating loads of protein and veg/salad. Keeps me feeling full.

So protein shake for breakfast
Prawns for lunch with large side salad
Fish for tea, again large side salad or veg
Babybels
Cup of tea 20 cals for milk
I can have a curly whirly 94 cals every night if I wish

Walking is good, I know you said you have weak knees but start of slow 5 mins down 5 mins back, then 10 mins down 10 mins back.

At set your goal at 7lbs, then when you achieve that another 7lbs and so on. 7 stone is a lot to focus on and feels unachievable.

Myusername2015 · 21/02/2023 10:11

I was 17 stone in august I’m 13’7 today. You can do this.

LambLamb · 23/02/2023 08:42

How are you all doing? I did cave and have pancakes and wine but other than that, have been good. I am looking forward to weighing in and getting some much needed motivation. I have bought breakfast with me to work today though am out for dinner tonight with friends.

NewMeforthemillionthtime · 26/02/2023 10:14

Hope everyone is doing well. I have lost another 2lbs this week. I have been out for 2 meals so I'm really pleased. My goal was 2lbs a week to lose 3st by my birthday. So far, so good.

@Myusername2015 how did you lose the weight and over what time period?

Saxenda has been a lifeline for me!

Inca22 · 27/02/2023 23:41

I'm on my second weigh in today. Started at 16st now 15.8 - so 6lbs in two week. Hopefully I can keep at it. Well done everyone on what you have achieved so far.
