need some moral support please

it's a university gym, local, reasonably priced and no contract

i looked round and I was the oldest and fattest woman there

admittedly I've got nearly 20 years on some of these girls, and two children but still, did nothing for my confidence

got home and told DH, saying right but I've got to start somewhere and I'm doing something about it

reply, and not in a nice supportive voice, in a weary annoyed voice "what are you doing comparing yourself to 17 year olds"

I'm 37, 5ft 1, 11 stone wearing a size 14 want to be 9 stone-ish wearing a size 12

I walked for 1.75 miles in 30 minutes and burnt 269 calories

I did o.k. didn't I, these young nubile young things jogging at a pace don't matter do they

please cheer me up

Oh poor you,i know just how you feel

I see loads of em pounding away on the treadmill for yonks and i am stood there puffing away just walking fast but hey it's gotta be better than sitting stuffing my face eh?

keep going and ignore your dH!!

You did great, and if you keep going you'll build up your speed and distance. And no the skinny young things don't matter - try not to look!

I'm several years older than you and having my dc has left me with some distinctly wobbly excess baggage. When I returned to the gym recently I was really self-conscious but a few weeks in I'm starting to enjoy it.

Try to treat it as a time to zone out a bit and not have to think about all the things you usually spend time stressing about. And think how good you'll feel as you tone up.

Yes keep going! Do not give in. The more you go the better you feel, honest!

Try not to look at all those 17 yr old skinny minnies...I bet they've got crap personalities anyway!!!

had to giggle at one point I had my ipod on and thought I just bet our playlists are on different planets

when Mud came on singing secrets that you keep
