Morning, I'm currently probably three stone overweight. It's so depressing, nothing fits and I look awful.

I'm really lacking in energy and enthusiasm so I hope that shifting some lard will help with my energy levels.

It's such a shock when I look in the mirror. I need serious help and accountability.

Will be winding down today for a fresh start tomorrow. Will weigh in on Sundays.

Please join me.

I'll join you!

I am about 4 stone overweight right now! But about one and half over my "normal" weight, which is still bad. I have given myself a stern talking to last night and I am using the weekend to formulate my "how to lose weight in late forties despite the menopause and my laziness plan".

What have you got planned for how to tackle your weight?
I am thinking:
1, a thirty minute walk every day whatever the weather,
2, no food after 7:30pm ( we often eat late due to work)
3, cut crappy snacks out, so eat meals and fruit, drink tea, water and squash.
4, Weigh in every Monday and I have also written my measurements down.
5, Oh, and the main one for me - reduce portion sizes on every meal.

Also 3 stone overweight. Starting today and using my fitness pal. Going on holiday in may and hoping to be a stone at least down by then. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been 😕

Uppitywoman · 07/01/2023 11:10

Yes, me please!
Post menopausal and just over 3 stone overweight. It crept on during covid and it never left. 😤 I have Rheumatoid Arthiritis, so it has to be gentle and probably slow. I’m determined to get there though.

Will pop back later on with my plan.

KNIX7 · 07/01/2023 11:29

Hi, I'm so glad that you will be joining me.

My plan is to stop mindlessly stuffing my face. I eat a lot of chocolate so that needs to go.

Also planning a 30 minute walk every day.

I need to drink more water, I hardly drink anything other than coffee or Diet Coke. The Coke has to stop too.

I am also the heaviest I've even been. It started creeping on during the lockdowns and I didn't deal with it. I'm getting more rotund by the day. None of my clothes fit. I hate seeing myself in the mirror. Am feeling very sorry for myself but realise only I can fix it.

Starting seems to be a problem for me as I have no motivation. I hope that this thread will help with that.

I'm going to be 50 this year and currently the heaviest I have ever been . My teen DD said she is always surprised at photos how thin I was. It crept up five years ago to 165 lb and now 190lb over 5ft 7in.

I'm now jacked up on HRT but the last few years have been dreadful, mentally and energy wise.
But I'm still here and determined for change.

I cut down alcohol in December and stopped Jan 1st.
Stopped drinking any caffeine, going for it with Herbal tea.
Take an array of vitamins including magnesium, iron & a multi vit.

7 days in, I'm feeling more motivated about the house. Still cynical & apathetic about work but semi excited about a small holiday. So mentally improving.

TheSparkling · 14/01/2023 15:34

So how are we getting on this week?

I have to say its been a mixed week for me but on the whole I am pleased with my diet. I have managed to walk every day and I have cut down massively on my snacking too. Had some mince pies slip ups but I am focusing on this being a learning journey so I am not going to berate myself but try and see where I can do better next time.
I still need to cut my portion sizes though!

Will be interested to do my weigh in on Monday morning and see where I am up to (or down too).

lilyonthewater · 14/01/2023 15:45

Have you guys heard of mind food peace? She's amazing. Search for her on insta. She changed the way I look at weight loss and eating.

I finally lost 3 stone after trying dieting for YEARS and never getting anywhere

God, I neeed to loose some timber... I'm really tall, so I can get away with it abit too easy but I know I need to re start my healthy lifestyle/ eating again. Your plan sounds great! I get a smaller plate and a water bottle that I know I need to ensure I drink every day . Good luck x

Lentilweaver · 15/01/2023 13:23

Joining in. I only have about 4 kg to lose but it is a stubborn 4 kg clinging to my middle.
Walked 11 k steps today though I then had some eggs benedict so probably wiped out any weight loss.

JoyPeaceHealth · 15/01/2023 13:25

I'm on the 1st Jan thread too but hello1

Lentilweaver · 16/01/2023 10:08

Failed my first day. I am doing 16:8 but got up in the middle of the night thanks to DH's snoring, and was so hungry I ate some Doritos.:(

Trying to get back on the wagon today. I am trying to do:
16:8 ( I find it tough)
walk 10 k a day except if the weather is really awful, in which case 5 k
Low carb and more protein ( the hardest thing for me. as am veggie)
No sugar or alcohol

Juststopit · 16/01/2023 13:24

Lost 2lb so far - happy with that. It’s definitely a marathon not a sprint. I don’t want to put it all back on again - like I always do!

Lentilweaver · 25/01/2023 12:01

How is everyone doing? I am doing so badly despite walking, IF, eating well and not drinking. I lost a kilo but it appears to have come on again. I seem to have plateaued at 70 kg, try as I might. Hate this bastard menopause.

Lostsoul231 · 25/01/2023 12:18

I am so ready to loose the two stone that has crept up on me over the last few years. I have just turned 49 and in peri menopause. I have removed all the chocolates from the house that I received for my birthday to avoid the temptation of snacking when working from home. I aim to walk 10k steps per day and go the the gym or do a light swim at least 4 times per week. I also need to eat more veg and less bread/pasta/cake/crisps. I am going away at the beginning of March so am aiming to lose a fair bit before then so I feel less uncomfortable in and around the pool.

Lostsoul231 · 25/01/2023 12:19

Weigh in this morning - 11st 5. Need to get down to 9st 7.
Let's do this!

Eve · 29/01/2023 11:54

I’ll join in, 53 and weight crept on over the years and little exercise due to long hours at a desk & focusing on kids. Did do local classes but invariably the instructor gives up and so do I.

would like to get from a size 14 to a 10/12

joined local gym at Xmas and now do pumpx2, step & combat every week plus 1 yoga.

also calorie counting.

xJoyPeaceHealthx · 29/01/2023 12:03

I need to come over to this thread as well as 1st Jan.
I started 29/12 and within 12 days I'd lost two kilos but I haven't lost a gram since then Confused the first week, I was very relaxed about it, I thought weight loss not linear et cetera, but weighed myself again this morning and still no weight loss. I'm 68.4 now and I was 68.1 on the 10/1 so................... positive attitude still. bit confused. Weighing everything, logging everything, making good choices within those limitations.

Went on hrt last monday so maybe that will help!?

Before I started this gig I was eating cake, biscuits here and there (average two a day i'd say), lots of pasta, chips! So I cannot not lose weight if I just keep going.

If I haven't lost weight by next Sunday I'm handing my body over to medical science.

xJoyPeaceHealthx · 29/01/2023 12:05

I will weigh again on Wednesday with you all! And hope that I've lost a gram.

CarolDunne · 29/01/2023 12:09

3 stone over weight here - veggie

My plan 100g protein a day
3 strength and conditioning classes
15k steps per day
3 meals with a min. Of 500 calories per meal

Lentilweaver · 29/01/2023 12:26

I need to donate my body to medical science too, I think. Those last 3 to 4 kg are clinging to my middle. I wonder if this is the size I am meant to be at this age

DumbledoresWand · 29/01/2023 18:15

Hi!... can I join you?
Have 1.5 stone to lose - all put on during lockdown, and having a sedentary job.
I have a terrible diet, full of carbs and sugary foods. I don't drink much alcohol, and drink lots of water - just need to cut out the crap really.
I'm 54, take HRT, which has helped with my poor sleep.
Stopped smoking over 20yrs ago, but don't seem to have the same willpower with food!
Going away in March, and would love not to have that self conscious feeling on holiday!
