Holiday weight...

So I've had about 4,500 extra calories since last Friday: mince pies, stollen, lattes, all sorts of Christmassy treats. I'm genuinely worried about getting on the scale again.

Just wondering if anyone else has massively indulged in the past and how long it's taken you to work it off again?

Hey, just in case anyone's been having similar worries - I dared to weigh myself this morning and I've put on 0.4 of a pound, which is nothing! All that worry for nothing Smile

Hope your scales haven't shifted much either over the holidays!

Hmmmm well I've put on 5 pounds, so far! New year still to come. To be fair a lot of that might be because I’ve been eating late at night so less time sleeping 😅

Changing eating patterns might also change digestion patterns so you're, er, possibly not carrying as much new extra weight as you think you are!

I haven't done SW since the week before Xmas. Dreading weigh in on Saturday but I know I can loose it again!

3,500 extra cal (on average) for a lb gain. Anything else will be water / hormonal fluctuations so try not to worry too much.

I use how my clothes feel as a gage. I’m currently 10 weeks pp. my goal for January is for my black jeans to fit more comfortably! (It wud be nice to not have to open the button after lunch lol)

Yeah, logically I always know that you can't put THAT much fat on in a short time, and that every period when my weight swings up that it's not real "weight". But I am haunted by the scales anyway.

Maybe I need to try not weighing for a while and going by clothes sizes too:

I go by my clothes, scales are not in this house because I get obsessive. Haven't eaten too much but have definitely drink too much but clothes feel ok. Back to the gym tomorrow!

I weighed this morning and have put on 10ozs, much tomy relief. Have had all those treats, but tried to be careful so looks like things have balanced out.

HuntingoftheSnark · 29/12/2022 19:45

No idea about calories but I ate pretty much everything I could see on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, followed by two days of back to normal eating. This morning I was my usual weight, so I'm guessing that it just balanced out.

That's great @HuntingoftheSnark!

I'm entirely back to normal this morning without any effort either, bit of a relief.

Nice to know I can splurge every so often without a big detriment.
