Hi ladies,

Sorry, I'm a bit late with it. Here is the new thread. Will weigh in tomorrow. No particular aims other than to not gain too much weight on over Christmas and to get some healthy stuff in. O and to do a bit better with my steps.

Thanks for the new thread! Happy advent, everyone ❤️

LBB2020 · 01/12/2022 22:42

Thanks for the new thread
Will weigh in tomorrow

LBB2020 · 02/12/2022 07:18

Morning ladies, starting December at 10st11lbs. Not where I’d hoped I would be but actually I’m pretty fine about it. Aiming for 10.5st by the end of the month (probably ambitious considering it’s the run up to Christmas but good to have something to aim for).
Hope you all have a good Friday

swallowedAfly · 02/12/2022 07:33

Or, 'Oh dear, December!' Xmas Grin

My aims for this month are recover from kidney infection and get energy levels back up and then crack on getting things done around the house and being more active than lying in my bed alternately shivering or sweating! I am 'hoping' that with that will come energy to be more active, more more in general and burn calories cleaning and sorting and get the dog out for some longer walks which will be good for steps and my mental health.

My weight is too mortifying to share at the minute but I also have no idea how much of the huge amount I've gain lately is real fat stores and how much is water retention, inflammation etc (hoping at least some of it is the latter).

It would be very good if this was the month of starting to feel better in general and being able to tackle things important to me but I am not putting pressure on with specific goals for now.

Octopus45 · 02/12/2022 09:50

You poor thing @swallowedAfly , hope that you start to feel better soon and that you manage some self-care before Christmas.

I'm impressed by anyone setting a goal. 9st1.5 this morning. Boys off school with lurgy, but we did manage to put the Christmas decorations up last night.

I'm still not weighing and honestly feel like it is such a relief not to have an obsessive relationship with the scales any more. It had become so toxic. Yes, I probably am heavier than I would ideally like to be, but my body looks and feels strong and good. Sorry if that sounds wanky. The scales can stay in the shed with the spiders.

I'm finished #healthyfor30 but going to keep up the 10k steps a day (which I do as standard) and daily yoga. I'll switch to the workouts 3/4 times a week because I found not having any "rest days" hard on my plantar fasciitis.

swallowedAfly · 02/12/2022 17:24

No rest days sounds a bit 'counter' to usual advice doesn't it?

Glad you're feeling good and healthier about your body Judy.

Well done on the decs Octopus. Hope you're doing ok thinking about Christmas with Dad having passed.

sparklyglitterball · 02/12/2022 19:12

Hello ladies, glad I found you having been awol for a while. @Octopus45 I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, and the other recent losses. What an emotional time you must be going through. I've not really been on the healthy eating wagon lately, but managing to keep up with my running which keeps me sane, especially when the dc are so full on at times 😅 I'd really like to cut down on treats and increase veggies/protein in the lead up to Christmas to balance out the inevitable indulgent period! Happy Friday all........just tucking into a G&T with Dh whilst the kids are running feral around the house. Bedtime for them soon.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/12/2022 20:11

Can I join you please? I do need to keep my head in the game for December. It’s not even Christmas ‘nice’ food that’s tempting me, it’s stodgy bready carbs - I blame the cold and the dark.
so 20 days til Christmas week and I’m determined to give it a real bash. It’s unrealistic to think I won’t drink but other than a night out (with my gym crew ironically) I have no social plans that will mean unavoidable wine/food, so there is absolutely zero excuse!

I’ve just sat and planned a nice low carb menu for next week, using my friends gousto recipe cards, and there are some lovely sounding meals in there so I’m very determined. I just need to actually stick to my plan!

LBB2020 · 03/12/2022 08:44

Look after yourself @swallowedAfly hope you’re feeling better soon.
Hope your children are feeling better soon @Octopus45. My youngest has been an absolute terror the past couple of days, we put it down to “terrible twos” but he woke up this morning and was sick everywhere so I guess he’s not been feeling well. We’re hoping to put tree up this weekend.
I’m so impressed @Judystilldreamsofhorses you've done so well sticking with your exercise!
@sparklyglitterball hope you enjoyed your G&T!
Welcome @thenewaveragebear1983!
I’m out for lunch with some work friends today, will try not to go crazy and be a little mindful of what I’m scoffing!
Have a great weekend all!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/12/2022 18:15

I had a pretty disastrous weekend but today have been properly on track. Lots of protein, very few carbs.
I ran 15km yesterday, and today did a walk and a gym class, ending on 1250 cals which is below my allowance and Also didn’t include my extra exercise cals so I am well under today.

Octopus45 · 06/12/2022 08:10

Welcome @thenewaveragebear1983 , sounds as if you are doing well with your meal planning.

Thanks @sparklyglitterball , its been a difficult time but I'm ok. Got my Uncle's funeral on the 20th.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I'm so impressed with all your exercise, it sounds as if you have really got your mojo.

@LBB2020 hope your kids are better.

@swallowedAfly how are you feeling? Do you break up from school next week?

I've had a horrible lurgy over the weekend (thanks kids), but I'm on the way up now. On the plus side I've not had my usual appetite, but tbh just relieved to be feeling better.

Octopus45 · 09/12/2022 08:04

Hi, how's everyone doing?

Doing okish here, lurgy gone thank god. Trying to be organised for Christmas cause I've got my Uncle's funeral a few days before and need to go up North.

Lots two pounds last weekend cause of lurgy but they are back. DS1 has started baking, which is great, but not so good for healthy eating. Last night he made some cookies with a marshmallow and dairy milk chocolate dip which was lush

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 09/12/2022 20:40

Glad you’re feeling better @Octopus45 and your DS baking sounds delicious!
My week started off ok but I’ve fallen off the wagon the past couple of days (I came on my period!).
Haven't managed any exercise either but hopefully will get some in over the weekend. Only one more week of work then I’m finished until January, I can’t wait for the break!
Hope you are all well

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/12/2022 22:54

Hello! I’m trucking on with exercise every day and feeling pretty proud of myself. Glad you are doing better health-wise @Octopus45 but sorry you have another funeral to go to. I bet you will be glad to see 2022 out. @LBB2020 i don’t finish until the 23rd this year which is SO late, but then off to the 9th.

We got our tree today and I am so delighted with it! 🎄

LBB2020 · 09/12/2022 23:02

I bet you’re looking forward to the Christmas break too @Judystilldreamsofhorses!
We have DS1 first nativity next week, I’m so excited to see him in it (he’s only a shepherd with no speaking parts but I’m still so excited!) and he also has a carol concert at the church on Friday so it’s starting to feel quite festive here!

Octopus45 · 10/12/2022 10:01

@LBB2020 bet you are counting the days down. @Judystilldreamsofhorses sounds as if you are doing amazingly.

Yes will be good to see the back of 2022. I went to a wake for my friend's Mum yesterday, another friend's Mum's funeral on the 16th and my Uncle's on the 20th. At least my Uncle's funeral will give me the chance to see my Sister before Christmas. Trying to get organised. Lots of gins with lemonade and a huge bag of chips last night, so not doing well diet wise, but steps reasonable

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/12/2022 11:06

How is everyone doing? Just reporting in to say I did my measurements this morning and have lost an inch off my hips and an inch off my waist since I last did it on 18 October! I know you can't outrun a bad diet as the saying goes, but the exercise must be helping to tone me up. My waist is 28.5" and hips 38" so still not small by any means, but I'm delighted. Meanwhile the scales remain in the shed, freezing, with the spiders...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/12/2022 11:06

Oh, also half an inch off under the boob area, now 30".

LBB2020 · 15/12/2022 19:11

Brilliant @Judystilldreamsofhorses you've done so well!
I'm finished work now and couldn’t be happier! Am not going to bother weighing again until January and just try to be a little mindful of what I’m eating until then!
I think I’ll probably end the year around the same weight as I started it! Never mind!
Hope everyone else is ok

Octopus45 · 16/12/2022 07:58

Wow @Judystilldreamsofhorses thats brilliant.

Stayed about the same here, think I was down half a pound yesterday. I want loads of carbs cause of the cold, but I've still been out and about quite a lot for work.

OP posts:
Octopus45 · 18/12/2022 08:58

Hi, hope everyone is well and enjoying the run up to Christmas. Cannot believe how cold it has been , hoping it is going to break soon. Have actually lost a pound this week I presume cause of the cold.

Off to take some photos for work, then to meet my bestie for a pub meal and drinks, cannot wait. Then off up North for my Uncle's funeral on Tuesday, should manage to finish my work on Wednesday

OP posts:
TheLittlestLightOnTheXmasTree · 18/12/2022 09:51

Got one last dose of saxenda in my pen. Will inject that then I'm on my own!!

Lost 4 stone this year

1-2 more to go. Bit worried I'll put on over Christmas but I'm working 7-5 on Xmas day.

Octopus45 · 21/12/2022 18:10

Wow @TheLittlestLightOnTheXmasTree 4 stone is amazing, you must be so proud of yourself.

Back from up North now, ate too much and no enough steps. Was lovely to reconnect with family despite the sad circumstances. May brave the scales tomorrow

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 22/12/2022 09:23

Hope you’re doing ok @Octopus45
I haven’t been eating that well the past week but no point worrying now! Just going to relax and enjoy Christmas and give myself a kick up the bum in the new year! This year has not been what I hoped it would be, I don’t seem to be able to get myself back to pre pandemic me (body and mind!). Sort of looking forward to a fresh start in the new year now
