... Here goes!! I'm 5"7 and weigh 13st12lb. Weirdly I don't actually look that overweight, but apparently I'm just about in the obese zone. My first goal is to lose 0.5 stone, so 7 lbs, making my first goal 13st5! Really doesn't matter if anyone reads/responds to this or not, it just helps to keep me motivated knowing others can see and respond to any progress. Really don't want to compromise my health anymore than I have as I have a 4yo. Thanks everyone!

Wishing you good luck! Great first move!

I'll join! I'm pretty similar to your height and weight and have been struggling to get a grip of eating healthier.

I'm 5'8 and 13 st12lb.

Good luck @Ellessdee . You have a specific plan for your weight loss?

Smugsmaug · 27/11/2022 23:08

Good luck! Well done on getting started - you can do it!

Just eat healthy ish meals and exercise! Went for a 2 mile jog yesterday, ate porridge with yoghurt for breakfast, salad for lunch and avocado and tomato on toast for tea. Apple in between each meal. Down 3.5lbs overnight!

Terribly haha! My son ended up taking a trip to hospital and I didn't eat until about 30 mins ago, so no food all day. Great for weight loss but I feel absolutely terrible for it. He's absolutely fine though.

I'll join too! I'm 5'7", 13st 4lbs and have gained 2st 11lbs since 2018 (thanks perimenopause and lockdowns). I ate healthy all day and then for no good reason, stuffed a load of Lindor chocolates down my throat 🤷🏻‍♀️. Great idea to have an accountability thread.

This is what I do. I'll do really well then can't help myself. Sugar is very addictive. In trying to go almost cold turkey and once my online shopping arrives in going to have an after 8 a day!

I’ll join in too. I am 56 and 5’7”. I weigh 15st 7lbs. I haven’t dieted but at my heaviest in April was 16st4lbs.

Tomorrow I am having steroid injections in my knees and the weight loss journey begins. Hoping to lose as much weight as I can before the injections wear off, arthritis is not fun.

Smugsmaug · 28/11/2022 21:06

Glad your son is ok 💐

And yes sugar is v addictive, I found going cold Turkey easier, otherwise if I have a bit, I end up wanting more 😅

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/11/2022 21:12

Hi. I'm a similar weight and can join in with the accountability.
5'6". 13st 2 and a half this Sat at my slimming world group, which is a stone lower than when I joined in July - slow progress, but progress.

I'm not sticking super religiously to their plan counting every syn but do try and follow their 'free' rules for the majority of what I eat, and aim to not snack or binge.

Everyone is different. If that works for you then brill! I'm better if I have something to look forward to at the end of the day 😁

That's an amazing effort though and all the evidence shows that in the majority of cases, slow weight loss is far healthier and maintainable than extreme weight loss. Good luck!
