Wegovy

Hi everyone,

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of or any information about Wegovy.

I am very overweight and my Dr has mentioned to me that it might be something that I should consider when it is approved for use.

I know absolutely nothing about it. I know nothing of the benefits or risks and I am looking for real life experience.

Thanks in advance.

Hi OP,

Wegovy is the same as Ozempic, and there are quite a few of us on it. See the thread in Weight Loss Chat. It's my second week on it and so far so good!

I've been using ozempic since early September after seeing it discussed on here. Happy to answer questions if you'd like to know anything.

Have you found any nasty side effects?

Thanks for the info - didn't realise it had an alternative name :)

Ozempic has the same active ingredient as Wegovy (Semaglutide) but the latter is not available in the U.K. yet. Ozempic dosage is lower.

There is plenty of info on the internet as plenty of Wegovy is available in the US but doubt you’ll find many Wegovy users here as largely U.K. posters.

DH and I were lucky and had minimal. I felt nauseous a few times but that's about it. It affected me by not feeling hungry. I could eat once a day and just not fancy anything at all, that started with the lowest .25 dosage. This subsided to having a breakfast and lunch and maybe something small for dinner but I'd be content with that.
I upped the dose and again, slight nausea but not all the time.
We opted to inject in the stomach just before bed so as to sleep through any intial sicky feelings.
Finding it hard to get hold of now!

Hi,

Can those who have started already tell me how they've found it? What has progress been like?

Just ordered today and looking forward to getting started. Need to lose weight for IVF next year and just unsure how long it could realistically take. Hoping for good results from it!

I took my first dose yesterday. Noticed a few mild side effects but not that full feeling yet I don’t think. That said, I’m not craving chocolate which is very unusual for me!

I took my first dose on Thursday I think it was. The main difference so far is I haven't felt the urge to snack. Although I haven't felt overly full, I've just not fancied tucking into snacks in the house. I'm still having prob 3 meals a day, although maybe a little smaller than usual but i have quite a few parties/meals out coming up in next few weeks so hopefully just means I won't feel the urge to pig out at them.

Hey, how have you got on over Christmas. I'm hoping my first pen gets delivered tomorrow x

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/12/2023 13:41

I have lost 8lbs so far, most of that was in the first week but I’m taking that as a win over Christmas as previously I would have easily put 5-10lbs on! I take my fourth injection tomorrow.
