I know this is so random but I was just wondering if you are able to indulge a little bit more and 'get away with it' on the scales. I haven't quite worked out if I can but I definitely over indulged some weeeks and managed to still lose but I'm wondering if there's a cut off point in the week were you can get away with it.?

I'm guessing you're asking because you get weighed weekly at a "diet club"??

sorry if this sounds a bit militant, but I'm a veteran of these a number of years .... But I don't believe your body knows it's 7pm on a Tuesday therefore it must be at its optimum weekly weight because you're heading out the door to WW / SW etc

Sometimes you do "get away with it" in terms of the weekly weigh-in .... but the calories have still entered your body, they don't magically not count because you had them at the chippy at 7.45pm Tuesday on your way home from weekly weigh-in (not that I've ever done that .....).

My problem was that I realised I could "get away with" an overindulgence once per week and still lose weight overall ... then thought I could get away with 2 meals out in a week AND a few drinks, then ALSO a takeaway lunch ..... slippery slope that I was back to "over indulging" more then "sensible" days.

But weight loss isn't linear. Your body doesn't realise it has to lose weight every week just before weigh in on a Wednesday at 7.00pm, just because you're going to diet club.

You haven't gotten away with anything that week, you have just eaten more calories at one specific time in your long term eating plan.

My body tends to give up my fat at about 2-2.5lbs at a time and usually the number of calories I have when I am "dieting" means that timeframe is usually every 10-14 days.

The jumping on the scales every week is just an indication of where you are in your journey, overall you may lose weight quicker if you're averaging 1500 calories a day rather than 1700 and if you binge once a week at say 700 calories, it would mean you are putting additional calories onto your overal daily calories.

Get away with it as in won’t put on weight?

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/11/2022 19:31

You could binge on your way to your weigh in as long as you were really good before.
What would you be binging on?

I weigh myself every day. It goes up and down. Some of which is predictable e.g. PMS week or after a salty meal, some isn't. But it's easier to see a downward (or not trend) and it doesn't become this big occasion you're trying to cheat

I'm not sure if this is what you mean but if you weigh yourself weekly on a Sunday then the best time to 'over indulge' would be the Sunday of the previous week.
