i have just signed up for a gym membership and have made it my goal to lose weight after quite a few pieces of clothes feel too tight. However, I want a goal weight to work towards. Im 5 ft 10.

Tall women - how much do you weigh and what is your UK dress size?

It's funny how our perception of weight differs . I'm 5'10 and last weighed 80 kg (175lbs) on my wedding day. I looked amazing. How can you see yourself as "very fat" at the same height and weight?

It must look different on people with different builds. I weighed this much at 9 months pregnant (including the very large baby) and I was HUGE. It was horrible. Even after the birth I felt massive and so uncomfortable with all that extra weight. Fortunately breastfeeding fixed it really quickly!

That weight would put me around a size 12 so definitely not huge. I seem to be pretty dense BlushGrin as I've been weighed before at the GP and got a Confused look as they've looked at me and then the scales

BlackcurrantSorbet · 14/11/2022 23:38

Haha! That must be funny. The double take. It seems so different depending on build, muscles, etc. Whereas at that weight I had a double chin!!

(And yes I know I'm fat before anyone tells me)
This was at 17st 3

Late 50s, 5'10. My happy weight post menopause is around 11 stone, which on me is a size 14 but because of my build I still look slim.

When I was in my 20s and 30s I was between 10 and 10.5 stone and size 12, but I feel better at my current age if I'm a few pounds heavier.

5'9", 70-71kg which I think is around 11 stone. In my twenties, size 12-14. I used to be about 63-65kg, but I have been very ill and inactive for the past year and once I got some decent antisickness meds I've been gaining weight. I would not like to gain much more, I'm a healthy BMI (yes I know it's bullshit really) and I believe would be up to around 76 kg. I'm a different shape to I used to be as well because of being in a wheelchair, all the weight has gone on my bum and hips.

Sorry I should have clarified- I am not very muscly anymore and all wobbly fat on hips amd thighs! I don’t mean to offend but I’ve slowly been gaining weight from 48kg so this feels fat to me even though I have been much heavier about 14 years ago.

I'm 5'8 on a good day. Relatively broad frame and definitely carry a fair amount of muscle. Comfortably a size 12 at 80ish kg. Would like to get back to 75, which i expect would be a 10. 40 this year
Lowest I've ever been as an adult was 72.5kg at 21 and I did look thin. But I was rowing and lifting weights for 8 sessions a week and couldn't eat more if I tried. I miss those days

@PeloFondo

I get a number of similar conversations with people. I must just be dense 😬
To be fair though, if i keep lifting weights again, certain clothes will stop fitting across the shoulders and trousers will fit over quads but then be massive at the waist

Type of exercise makes a huge difference, I know when I swim I go up a stone and a size vs when I run even with a similar level of body fat.

5’11
11 stone 5lbs - I fluctuate between 11 st and 11 st 7 lbs - ish.

I’m a size 12.

I am happy and healthy. at this weight. below 11 st and I start to look gaunt. Nearer to 12 stone and I go up a dress size and look a bit heavy.

LindaEllen · 15/11/2022 11:13

I've weighed everything from 10st to 22st at 5'9".
Currently 14st 12lbs.

My ideal weight, looking back on photos of how I look and matching that up with my weight tracking app, is 10st 7lbs.

I will get back there.

I let the pandemic and all its issues get at me and put me way, way off track.. but I'll get back there.

fairtrauchled · 15/11/2022 13:25

I'm just over 5ft 8. I was 58 kg in my late 20s. I'm now in my 60s and fluctuate between 64-66 kg. I'm a size 10- 12 depending on make.

Gherkingreen · 15/11/2022 13:42

5ft 11, late 40s, weigh 76kg ish. Size 12 top 14 bottom (12 if they're wide legged).
I carry my weight in the bum/thigh area and a little peri-stomach bulge these days.
I walk around 5 miles ish every day, workout at home 3x a week weights, cardio, strength/conditioning. I'm strong, fit, happy, healthy.

5'9. 9 stone 10lb. Size 12.

Preferred myself at 9 stone 5lb and more like a size 10 but lockdown ruined it and I can't get it back! Current weight looks about right probably.
