i have just signed up for a gym membership and have made it my goal to lose weight after quite a few pieces of clothes feel too tight. However, I want a goal weight to work towards. Im 5 ft 10.

Tall women - how much do you weigh and what is your UK dress size?

5'9", weigh 12 stone, wear size 12 jeans. Am officially overweight by BMI but I have always been a bit heavy and have never managed less than 11 stone without unhealthy dieting methods.

I am 5'10 and have been everything between 48 and 105kg.
Currently a very fat 80kg ish.

It's funny how our perception of weight differs . I'm 5'10 and last weighed 80 kg (175lbs) on my wedding day. I looked amazing. How can you see yourself as "very fat" at the same height and weight?

LadyApplejack · 14/11/2022 22:09

5'9. 9 stone 10lb. Size 12.

Preferred myself at 9 stone 5lb and more like a size 10 but lockdown ruined it and I can't get it back! Current weight looks about right probably.

I'm 5' 10" and currently 58kg. I look pretty spindly but not unhealthily thin. I look way too big at 80kg (I think I've been up to 75/80kg) - it's also about body frame size, boob size, muscle etc, not just perception... At 80kg I would have a very big face /double chin and very wobbly limbs / muffin top.

hobbledyhoy · 14/11/2022 22:12

Just under 5ft 10 and around 11st 7lbs, generally a size 12

RewildingAmbridge · 14/11/2022 22:16

I'm 5'9 and if I go under ten stone people ask if I'm unwell, I get really boney around the face and shoulders. I'm a size 8/small 10 at that weight. I like to stay under 11.5 which is a 10/12 depending on shop if possible. I look fine up to about 12.5-13, but get a bit of a muffin top/tummy.
I hit 17 stone at one point and that was really bad. I'm under 14 now and losing around 2 pounds a week

Tormundsbeard · 14/11/2022 22:23

Just under 5 ft 9, in my 20s and 30s I was 10-10.5 stone and wore size 10, weight started creeping up after my hysterectomy at 41 to a max 14 stone 10 in my early 50s, size 18-20. At 57 I am now 13 stone 5 and size 16-18.

I’d like to get down to 12 stone. I expect that would make me a size 14?

Crazyforcavies · 14/11/2022 22:30

5'9, 10 stone, small boned

Crazyforcavies · 14/11/2022 22:31

Sorry, forgot size. 10-12

TheVanguardSix · 14/11/2022 22:35

Age 50, 5'10", 8.5 stone/53 kgs, size 8
I've been pretty much the same weight since I hit adulthood. I've only ever gained weight in my pregnancies. Sounds dreamy but actually, I look like Slenderman... kinda permanently underweight and I tend to become gaunt very quickly if I don't keep my weight up. I've never been diagnosed but have a lot of the physical traits and cardiac signs of Marfans, something I was being observed for pre-covid, but that all came to a grinding halt. I still get the nice menopausal bloated belly though which adds to my already odd shape.

thenightsky · 14/11/2022 22:40

5ft 9in and currently 11st 2lb, which makes me a size 12.

I look my best at under 10st, but now I'm 60 I don't see that ever being achievable as even on 1,000 calories a day, I only lose about a pound a month!

TomTraubertsBlues · 14/11/2022 22:43

65kg

I'm usually an 8 on my top half, 10 or 12 (depending on shop) on my bottom half.

MakkaPakkas · 14/11/2022 22:44

I'm 5ft 10
Age 18 I was 11 stone and size 12
Age 24 I was 12 stone and a smaller size 14
I'm now 44, 13stone 12 and a big size 16.
My goal weight is, realistically, anything under 13 stone with the hope of being a 14/16

Yazoop · 14/11/2022 22:45

I'm just under 5ft9 and currently around 14.5 stone.... not great, but I'm working on getting that down at the moment!

I seem to distribute my weight relatively evenly (though always a bit bigger around the hips with a narrower waist), so am a size 14 at this weight and, if I dress well, prob don't look as big as I weigh, but it is definitely too high - I'm around BMI 30 now. As I get a bit older it also seems to show more in the face too :(

I think I've spent most of my adult life battling between 12 and 14 stone. The lightest I've ever been is around 11.5 stone - I was around a size 8-10 on top and a 10-12 bottom. I looked pretty thin at that size despite being around BMI 24 so towards the top end of the "healthy" range (aware BMI can be a bit crude, though, particularly if you're on the taller side).

AnyFucker · 14/11/2022 22:46

5ft 10 and mid 50’s

Weight around 10 and a half stone, size 10/12

Been this size for a couple of decades now. When I was younger I was just below 10 stone but I was a bit too thin and my periods were messed up.

Pinkbutterflie · 14/11/2022 22:46

5 foot 9 and a half and weigh 9 stone and in a size 10

See weight is so crazy. We are the same height but I'm 3 stone heavier and also a big size 16

MerculesHorse · 14/11/2022 22:47

Another one in the low 70s and size 10-12. I generally look pretty good at around 65kg and toned, currently breastfeeding and I'm pretty sure the extra weight is mostly boobs.

byvirtue · 14/11/2022 22:55

late 30s, 5ft9/10 and I weigh 9st10 usually if I hit 10st I cut back. I have been a size 10 my whole life but this year have bought a few size 12s. Can’t decide if I’m getting fatter or preferring a looser fit.

FiddleFigs · 14/11/2022 22:56

5’10”, 43 yrs old and weigh 70kg. Currently size 12. And trying to get back to 65kg.

MetellaInHortoEst · 14/11/2022 22:57

11 stone (fluctuate a few pounds around that), size 12.

rainydogday · 14/11/2022 22:58

5ft 10 (used to be 5'11) sure I have shrunk. I am 43 and weight 11st6. Size 12-14. Heaviest I have ever been. Blaming it on the peri menopause and wine.... i would love to start with a 10! I think 10st5 suited me. It's so hard to shift now, even though I probably do more exercise than I ever did pre kids.

WinterNightStars · 14/11/2022 23:05

5'9", early 50's & 75kg, size 12-14. Would like to be around 70kg....in my dreams lol

BlackcurrantSorbet · 14/11/2022 23:28

5'10", 60kg. Been the same since I was a teenager other than during/ straight after pregnancies. Minor fluctuations up or down a couple of kilos but generally pretty stable and happy with it, a size 10.

BlackcurrantSorbet · 14/11/2022 23:30

It must look different on people with different builds. I weighed this much at 9 months pregnant (including the very large baby) and I was HUGE. It was horrible. Even after the birth I felt massive and so uncomfortable with all that extra weight. Fortunately breastfeeding fixed it really quickly!
