Bad news and good news

I’ve been dieting for around three or four months now and have slowly seen the weight go down. I have gone down around three dress sizes I was a 22 and can now fit most 18s. So I feel I’m getting there albeit slowly. I am now 14 stone 7 Ibs. Another positive is that I have given up alcohol and chocolate.

the good news? I bought a size 16 green spotty retro style in sainsbury which fits!

the bad news: the NHS page informs me I am obese at my weight and height, which I am not disputing, it’s just a little dispiriting, especially as I am trying so hard!

ah well, onwards and upwards. I have three more stone to go.

It sounds like you are making really great progress! Congratulations on your loss and new clothes!

I don’t know if you post on any of the threads on here but there are a few where people post regularly for support and to share their ups and downs. I find doing that keeps me focused and it might be helpful to join one if you haven’t already.

Keep going on your journey you are smashing it!

I hear you @Thomasina79!

I have lost a similar amount, I started at a 24 and am now squeezing into an 18, comfortably into a 20 at 15st 10lbs - although it has taken me 11 months so far, so you've done so well to do it so quickly!

I think it gets to this stage and it's hard! You feel like you've worked so hard and everyone is telling you how well you've done and (for me), there'sanother 6.5 stone to go to get <25 BMI. It feels like such a slog and like starting over again.

How have you lost weight? I've cut out sugar and done a mix of LCHF, Louise Parker Method and am currently doing VFast800/OMAD.

And I think I know the spotty green dress you mean, I love that one! I'm on a no clothes buying mission just now, but otherwise I would have bought it!

There is absolutely no bad news here! You have lost loads in 3 months! I think you might have unrealistic expectations about weight loss?

Slower is better because you are more likely to keep it off.

Thanks, I’m trying to take it one day at a time. Half a pound loss is better than half a pound gain.

as for method, I find my appetite has got less, but I have given up loads of things, even bread! I have ryvita instead. I count calories which works for me and write down everything I have eaten that day.

sorry to grumble and thanks for your replies!

I know what you mean. I started the year at 14st 7 (with 7 week old baby) and managed to lose 3 stone but I'm still well in the overweight category on bmi. I've stalled now but trying to kick-start and lose a stone before Xmas to take me into top end of normal bmi. (Then I'll probably pile it back on over Xmas!) Then I still wany to lose a bit more to get tp a weight I'm happy with.
It feels like such a slog doesn't it but as you say any loss is better than a gain. I'm trying to break it down into smaller chunks and to have goal weights in mind for milestone events e.g I wanted to be under 11st by my birthday (not gonna happen - it's a week away! But trying to get as close as possible) Good luck
