Can someone help me to figure out what to eat please?

I'm desperate to lose a couple of stone. My clothes are getting a bit snug so I could do with losing a stone asap.
Im a carb addict. I crave bread, crisps, potatoes, crackers, cereal and all that kind of stuff.
I know it's this that's making me gain weight and making it impossible for me to lose weight.
I think for me, I need to go low carb and 'reset' my appetite.
My issue is that I don't eat eggs, dairy, broccoli or cauliflower. I don't like eating too much meat or fish so I'd only have it once a day at most.
Can anyone give me ideas for meals I could include in a low carb plan please?

What do you eat in a typical day? And what exercise do you do?
It's likely to be the amount you eat that is making you gain weight, rather than the actual foods.

If you don’t eat much meat, eggs or dairy I would try looking up high protein vegan meals

Hi! I’m losing weight too. I’m just heading out of the nhs obese category…to just severely overweight now ….yay! 😂 so far I’ve lost 4kg.
Today I’m making “sausages” …this makes many many meals including patties that can be eaten with an egg to make a naked sausage McMuffin!

Recipe

  • piece of smoked gammon - trim off all the fat and blend it with one egg to make a mush.
  • one leek - chop it really and fry with a teeny blob of olive oil.
  • mustard seeds or powder - 3 teaspoons
  • pinch of salt
  • lots of black pepper
  • bunch of sage finely chopped
  • half a crust of brown bread - Swizz it in the blender to crumbs
  • tablespoon of grated nutmeg
  • dash of Lea and perrins
  • one pack of lean 5% pork mince

method
chuck all of above into big bowl. Get hands in and mix thoroughly. Shape mix into sausages or breakfast patties. This mix makes the equivalent of approx x 3 packs of sausages. The fat content is less than 5% and low carbs.

oven bake and serve with tonnes of veg, onion gravy and carrot mash instead of potatoes or half a sweet potato. 😋 Trust me, these are really sausagey, low cost and low guilt. Xxx

Another idea. Fast Thai green curry.
Use either a ready cooked chicken or frozen tofu plus veg.

Sauce recipe
low fat coconut milk one can
spring onion
green beans
green pepper
bag of spinach or any other leafy Green lying in the fridge
two packs of coriander
knob of ginger
3 garlic gloves
thai fish sauce
lime juice x 2 limes
mirin rice wine to taste
rice vinegar to taste
two green Thai chillies

Method
put coconut milk, coriander, ginger, garlic fish sauces, lime juice, rice wine and vinegar and chillies into the blender to make a raw sauce.
wilt all the veggies in a stir fry pan, minimal oil. Add coconut raw sauce and cooked chicken or tofu. Bubble max 10 mins. Don’t overboil and let the sauce split.
serve with small portion black rice.
serves 3-4

Simple.

No breakfast. Fasting means your body uses the sugar energy in your blood until it's gone, then uses your fat. The longer you can fast the better.

Lunch, for me, a whole tub of fresh soup. Every day.

Dinner. Protein, so chicken usually, and vegetables on the side.

That's it. Losing loads of perimenopause weight. Clothes beginning to hang.

Good luck!!

I agree with @something2say fasting is very good for many reasons, I almost never eat breakfast. During the week I stick to 800 calories a day between lunch and dinner. I consume all my calories between 2pm and 8pm.
my weakness is wine, so I don’t drink at all during the week but have it to look forward to at the weekend, when I have a consuming cut off of midnight. You could do this with carbs (50g of carbs permitted weekdays) then you’d be carb and calorie cycling and not have to miss out entirely on what you enjoy.
Try to eat plenty of low carb vegetables. Good luck!

Thank you. I like tofu so thanks for that reminder. Good idea about fasting.

My problem is that I rely on bread too much and this spikes my insulin, I think, and I get hungry really quickly again. I'm just always rushing around or too tired to go to any effort.

I'm trying to reduce carbs as I think that will help.

Well done to all those losing weight. It's very inspiring!

Restrictions will just lead to your craving it more in the end op.no matter how long you think you can last and see great results your body will kick back.especially if it’s a loved food of yours.
so rather than cutting out and making yourself miserable.
can you think instead of what to add in.
so what more food groups can you add which would inevitability mean the carbs would lesson anyway or lessen in importance. So more protein.more veggies and whip grains.what other foods or recipes to try where the carbs are still very much allowed but they don’t have the imprortance or mainstay of right now.and you don’t feel deprived.
what kind of meals do you eat now where you feel they are carb heavy?

kateandme · 13/10/2022 20:36

Carbs are a major food group for a reason.restricting or fasting isn’t a healthy lifestyle it’s dieting. If this is for health you just need to find balance
