I’ve lost a bit of weight, started at 13st and am now 11st 7lbs.

My aim is 10st.
I do lots of exercise, as well as having a reasonably active job.
Running 3x a week, and strength training 3x a week.
The issue is my diet. I love chocolate and wine a bit too much.

So I’ll be reducing the rubbish in my diet, in order to lose the last 21lbs.

Does anyone want to join me?
21 is such a small number, but in reality it’s tough to lose it, especially in my 40’s!

Well done on the weight loss that's amazing. I've lost weight too was 11st 11Ibs now 9st 9Ibs I'm 5ft 4 I want to lose another 5 maybe 8Ibs not much but it's slowing down a lot.

I've been diagnosed with diabetes so my food has changed a lot. I don't snack or eat any chocolate, sweets crisps or fizzy drinks. Which I thought I wouldn't be able to do I haven't missed them. I have 3 meals a day and don't eat after my dinner. I think the tablets I'm on for my diabetes don't make me as hungry. I also drink 2 litres of water a day.

@ilovetea14 thank you, well done to you too! It shows down the closer we are to our natural weight, I’m dreading the last 8lbs!

Starting strong this morning, have done the hoovering and all the housework, drank lots of water, had breakfast.
I am going for a run later this evening, and I’m also walking the dogs for an hour this afternoon.
We are having chicken for dinner tonight, with rice. I think I’ll have a smaller portion of rice and have extra veg.

@Bookaholic73 I hate running so fair play to you for doing it. I started off slow with working out I now workout 5days a week. I bought myself a rowing machine as wanted to have different forms of exercise. I do 3 ten min workouts on YouTube then go for a 40 min walk and now 20 mins rowing. I was doing skipping but it's a ropeless skipping has weights on either end. I'm really enjoying the working out and have so much more energy now!

Well done! Also on the weight loss journey 👍🏽

Thank you @aliceyueh

I’m hoping to lose 2lbs a week from now until Xmas, which will mean I’ve achieved my goal. But I’m ok if it takes a little longer. This has to be a long term sustainable loss, as losing weight is so miserable I don’t want to have to do it again 😂

@ilovetea14 That’s what I love about exercise, it gives me so much more energy. Well, most of the time anyway!

What is the point of giving up the things you enjoy to momentarily step on a scale and be happy?

Bookaholic73 · 10/10/2022 20:56

@PBSam That’s why I’m not giving anything up. That’s the key to lasting success, not going without. Just reducing the frequency with which I have them.

@PBSam …everyones motivations vary. But I’m 51, 5ft 2 and 75kg…I’m just about in the obese category. If I don’t shake a leg and do something about it, I could well head towards type 2 - a pain in the ass. I’m enjoying discovering new low fat and lower calorie food. 😋Tonight I had hake fillet on spicy butter beans with kale. Then stewed plum and low fat custard. Yes I am smug 😊…lost 4kgs and v happy. Oh I have a shitty knee too… another good reason to shed the weight.

I'm not knocking you. It's a great thing you're doing but aiming for an unattainable number on the scales is why 95% of people fail. Someone said to me once "close your eyes and imagine your dream body, now open them. You ain't getting it, half way there is the best most normal people with normal lives can achieve". I've lost 6 stone in a perfect world I'd lose another 1 but the sacrifices I need to make in order to do it and maintain it are not worth it anymore so I'm maintaining very easily where I am.

Bookaholic73 · 11/10/2022 09:16

Good morning.

Had my run last night, which was great. I really wasn’t in the mood to do it, so I’m glad I decided to go anyway.

I find that I can lose weight relatively easily if I reduce my wine and chocolate intake. So that’s really my only focus at the moment.

Well done @Bookaholic73 I did a 10 min abs workout,35mins walk,20 mins rowing and 20 mins skipping.

I find it hard to lose weight some months I lose nothing, now I'm getting closer to my goal think it may take longer but in no hurry. I'm in much better place now then this time last year except for having diabetes 🙈
