The last time I stepped foot in a gym was in 2015 and during my induction I injured myself on the treadmill. Suffice to say I'm terrified of going back but I signed up to one of those 24/7 places so I'm hoping I can find the energy and motivation to go in an evening once the kids are in bed... Wish me luck 😅

Currently 85kg and 5ft 7. Would like to lose at least 10kg.

I laughed at your title and said to myself ‘now you have to actually go’ as if you’re anything g like me the membership will last a few months and never get used!
good luck and hope you do better than me!

That's a great start - next step is to make sure that you go!

But more importantly, what's your diet like? Exercise alone is a very difficult way to lose weight - hence the saying 'you can't outrun your fork'. You have to do a LOT of exercise, regularly, to shift weight.

Good luck @sborber I’m also trying to lose weight and going to the gym- trying for twice a week.

Well done!! If they offer classes I would try those too if I were you - I find I’m more motivated when I’m being shouted at by an instructor :)

Oh this I know my diet has been awful. I had GD during both pregnancies and have a major sweet tooth. Bourbon biscuits were my down fall but this has stopped. I just don't buy them any more.

Usually breaky is protein granola, lunch is something ham/cheese related and tea is always a family meal that the kids can eat eg korma or fajitas or chilli.

Thank you! Yes twice a week is also my aim 🤞

Welcome.... 😍
I joined one a couple of months ago.... I have lost just over 5kg. I try not to eat too much crap but wouldn't class it as a diet. I am just aware that the shitty chocolate bar or greasy cookie takes a looooong time to work off.

If it is the 24/7 one I use the app training program is really good (I add a row session in as well to increase the calorie burn)

I go 2 days have a rest day. Rinse and repeat. Nothing bumps my gym trip, there are no excuses.

I find having a podcast helps pass the time.

You can do this!

A few really useful short workouts to prepare you for the gym:

Rebecca Louise's Best Abs and Ageless Arms
Lucy Wyndham Read's Thighs & Glutes
Bowflex 3-minute plank
Some of Growingannanas' tabata HIIT workouts

All free on YouTube 😀

Yes it is PG... I like the fact I can escape once the kids are in bed late at night.

Well done on losing 5kg!! 🙌 and thanks so much for the encouragement... Happy to report I've been a few times now and intend to go again on Thurs!

Ok I lied.... My Covid booster has bumped today's trip. My arm is sore and I am worried I will drop something on my toe.

I will be joining you for a session tomorrow instead.
