how to stop eat because of habit

I have recently got back onto my fitness and weight loss wagon after getting my life back (a bit) with a toddler. I now have a bit more time and energy to workout and eat food that is good for me rather than food that is available at that given moment!
I am eating foods which fill me up and give me the energy till the next time I feel hungry. What I am mainly struggling with it how to stop "habit" eating. For example today I had protein porridge with fruit, soup and roll for lunch, I do not feel hungry but took myself out of the office for a short walk with the intention of fresh air and steps but found I was really struggling with the NEED to buy food, like crisp or chocolate or just anything basically. I didn't need or really want anything else but it was an uncontrolable urged that I needed to buy food!! how ridiculous.
I ended up buying a WW protein bar which I didn't really want, ate it and it wasn't that great but felt better because I did, how strange I don't think I've really felt this before.
Anyone else fell this way?

Habits are hard to break but you can do it. Go on the after lunch walk without your wallet, at home make it a rule not eating outside kitchen -dining table and phone in bag, ...
You need to outsmart your brain until the habit is dead . You can do it!

Chewing gum is your friend

Keep busy

Leave your purse at home

Chewing gum

Delay - so say to yourself, if I still want x I will have it after dinner, tomorrow, Saturday etc

Focus on your goals

If your craving snack at a specific time like 3pm after coffee, change the routine.

Figure out what your triggers are and try to mitigate

Great idea leaving my purse at home. A fresh airbwalk normal helps with snacking and food only in kitchen is another great one. Hope habit isn't to longwinded to break!

I keep a packet of sugar free polos in my pocket. When I get that urge to go in a shop a pop one in my mouth and it takes the urge away.
