You're unlikely to lose a stone a month... average 3.5lbs a week... on 1500 cals a day unless you're either a) morbidly obese to begin with or b) taking up marathon running. Many people can see a sharp drop the first week of any calorie-controlled plan depending on how terrible their dietary habits were previously.... 6 or 7lbs wouldn't be uncommon, higher if you're extremely overweight. But after that point a healthy rate of loss is something approaching 1% of your total body-weight. So a 300lbs (21st+) person could lose 2-3lbs a week but a 200lbs (14st+) person should be thinking more 1.5 - 2lbs.

SR248 - I felt like that at the beginning too, almost like mild flu symptoms. It will pass though I promise. It took about a week to 10 days (from memory) to feel better but I also felt like I had no energy and had headaches at the beginning. Try to keep drinking lots of water and you will get through it.

My husband actually just started Go Lower a couple of weeks ago and has been going through this too but he doesn't seem to be as bad as I was. Maybe men just don't feel it as much!

simmo39 · 21/04/2010 22:48

Try to persevere, I felt a bit rubbish to begin with but it did pass. As Mummymels suggested drink lots of water it does help. Best of luck on the diet, I am doing it too and am really happy with the results.

Hi...i am starting go lower on monday !!!didn't know whether to do it but my friend told me to check mumsnet and found all of your experiances really encouraging as just need somthing simple so dont need to think about food !! Cant find any messages recently but am sure thats not because its all gone pear shaped and that the choc hob knobs have reared their ugly heads!!!Would love to hear from anyone on it or just about to start .thanks Fran

mummymels · 26/05/2010 20:46

Hi Fran

Good luck with it. I'm still on it and think there are a couple of others on here too.

I started in October and had done really well but the past month or so I had really fallen off the waggon but the last week and a half or so I have been back onto it and feeling better about it again.

fran1963 · 27/05/2010 18:55

thanks for replying !!!...think you've done amazingly well...if you have been doing it since october its totally normal to have lapsed, supprised its just once!!!Suppose its type of eating once you have got to weight your happy with, that you try and stick to 80% of time and 20%sort of eating things you want.Going to have dinner soon not hungry but not sure if fancy one of those sachets, already looking forward to breakfast and those tasty crunchy things!!!!

mummymels · 28/05/2010 00:43

Thanks. Which dinner did you decide on? I was so pleased with myself that generally I had kept to it really well but I think as I was getting nearer goal and my weight loss was slowing down something clicked and I cheated then everytime I got back to it again cheated again and got into the habit of cheating but hopefully I can stick toit enough to get to goal now.

fran1963 · 28/05/2010 17:55

Hi...had the thai prawn curry and added a packet of M&S thai prawns already cooked and 2sliced leaks it was bloody delicious !!!! Do slightly add my own bits and bobs but nothing that isn't far from it.Had salad with tined tuna and two hard boiled eggs today for lunch....As iam writing this think i sound like mad woman who is not sticking to it but dont feel hungry and not craving 35 packets of crisps and ten packets of Revels a day,so thats always a good thing!!!!!Dont be hard on yourself youve done brilliantly despite the cheating bits ...totally normal !!

mummymels · 28/05/2010 23:13

Fran, I don't think what you are doing can do you any harm at all and you don't sound like a mad woman at all. It sounds as if you are doing really well.

Thanks for the kind words.

princesselainey · 10/06/2010 15:53

I've just signed up for it - get my delivery on monday. need to lose 2 and half stone.
my main concern is that i wont like the food quality. how have other people found the food quality/taste?
thanks elaine

fran1963 · 19/06/2010 09:45

Hi....Princesselainey...dont worry about the food quality most of the food is actually tasty ,I like certain things like the thai prawn dinner and (which i add packet of M&S thai prawns)really makes a big difference. Also like the chicken dishes which i add extra veg and chicken ....Brilliant thing is that totally got me off the sugar and carb cravings.Have lost about 9 lb in 3 weeks ,so even though sometimes not crazy on the soups ,i am quite happy.Good luck and keep me posted x fran

trueblue2 · 07/08/2010 22:04

Hi everyone. I have received my food from Go Lower and plan to start Monday morning. I wondered if anyone could tell me if they are still doing this diet and how they are getting on/have got on. Have read all the messages on this thread and have noted some really positive comments about it. What sort of weight loss can I realistically expect? I ordered the 28 day bikini diet (basically the normal diet but aimed at jsut the four weeks-with option to continue for longer). Any comments/messages please :-)

ab6990 · 25/08/2010 09:57

Hi I am starting today! working from home to wait for my first delivery and feeling very impatient. Weighed myself this am and very cross with myself as I have put on 1/2 stone in last three months after breaking my scaphoid (bone in wrist) therefore making weight loss journey even longer. hey ho - at least I am starting today. trueblue2 how are you getting on?

lardylegs72 · 01/10/2010 15:58

Hi all,
I've just started the go lower plan for 28 days. Would be really interested to know how you are all getting on now. I am planning to lose a stone with their help and then continue on my own. Let me know how you are all finding it long term.

lauraloo1 · 20/10/2010 17:44

Hello im thinking of starting go lower, but alittle scared, how much have people paid for the plan? and when u finish how do u keep it off? its just such alot of money to fail, but im so ready to lose weight!!!

Fabolous40 · 28/03/2011 22:58

Hi - I'm thinking of trying Go Lower. Do they still do the 10% discount, and if so, is there anyone who would recommend this to me, so we both get the 10% off?? Thanks

karenjones22 · 06/06/2012 17:00

I signed up for an 8 month Go lower programme but never realised I would hate the food! i dont like spicy and I dont like garlic and the food was just not to my palate. As I failed to lose weight after the second month eating food I hated, I became dispondant. I tried calling my go lower consultant but the lines were busy not even enough room to leave a message so I gave up on that very early on. My go lower consultant would try to call but if she didnt get me she wouldnt try again for another week. It would be months before I spoke to someone about my problem and losing only a couple of pounds in a month was not worth the fee.

I was told I could put the whole thing on hold as I was soing jury service but unknown to me that didn't include the payment so they took my money and didnt deliver goods, but by this time i was totally off the programme anyway and didnt want them. They would not refund the payment either, so if I were you and you have a lot of weight to lose I would sign up for just one month go lower programme at a time that way you don't end up paying a further 6 months of payments begrudgingly as you dont like the food, dont get the support you think you are getting as support dont make much of an effort to call you, nor can you get through to support as the lines are busy. Dont sign up for a long time or it could cost you more than you bargain for.

louise153 · 26/08/2012 13:04

I have some go lower meals for sale if anyone is interested.....

josie54 · 29/08/2012 11:50

I tried the GO LOWER diet for three weeks and it made me quite ill. I suffer from IBS and it really didnt suit as its very high in fibre. Please be very careful before you sign up without checking if it suits you first. Also my weight loss was minimal.
