What's the best way of calorie counting?

I need to loose 2 stone. I've managed 6 pounds by cutting out sugar, but need a reliable way to track what I'm eating calorie wise. I need 1600 for maintenance. I have not dieted for decades. Need something quick and simple. Nothing that I'll get obsessive about. Noom, weight watchers, calculating every calorie? Cutting out fat? What has worked for you?
Many thanks

I used myfitnesspal app. Worked for me, lost over 4 stone after pregnancy.

My fitness Pal

Nutracheck

Oysterbabe · 07/09/2022 13:08

Nutracheck. I paid £24 for the year. I've been a Myfitnesspal user for ages but decided to switch and it's so much better and more user friendly. Worth paying for IMO. Plus Myfitnesspal are putting the barcode scanner behind a paywall next month so the free version won't be quite as useful anyway.

Thanks. I've just downloaded my fitness pal. Looks good!

Hi, OP. We've moved your thread over to Weight Loss Chat now.

I use the Noom app for counting calories, but don't subscribe to Noom so it's free

Ilovelindor · 07/09/2022 15:57

My fitness pal is free. The others are not.

Are you sure you need 1600 calories for maintenance? That's low. I have about 1700 to lose weight! And am losing on that.

Crazycatstory · 07/09/2022 15:57

The Nutracheck app is a bit more accurate than the myfitnessespal imo. If you pay per year it’s not very expensive at all, and you can do a few days free trial initially I believe.

The OP hasn’t given enough information for you to make that judgement.

LaTangerina · 07/09/2022 16:01

MyFitnessPal the free version

Thats what 2 apps have told me. I don't mind sharing I'm 12 and a half stone and 5 feet 8 inches.

I've lost 6 stone through intermittent fasting and cooking from the Fast 800 recipe books.

gwenneh · 07/09/2022 16:21

MyFitnessPal, and a very accurate food scale.

That's what worked for me.
