I was losing weight previously, but then when I have too much going on, I find I go back to my old eating habits, chololates and snacks I was no longer cutting out. I was on a no sugar diet for a bit which I decided myself, once I reached 40. now I have a special event for which I want to look nice, I am slightly overweight, well almost half over when I looked at the NHS BMI. any tips to look smart on the work event, will daily walks and cutting all snacks help? onyl eating fruit for snacks is that a good idea? thanks

Very low carb always makes me lose a load of water weight and de-bloats me which makes a big short term difference if you're not that much overweight.

Ditto some arm weight training - don't know if you're a member of a gym or have weights at home but you could get noticeably more toned in a month if you did it at least 3 times a week.

Focus on skin / hydration / looking after yourself and getting plenty of sleep too as that makes a world of difference
