Body positivity vs bmi ‘obese!’

I’ve always struggles with my weight due to PCOS.

im at my heaviest right now at 15 stone, I’m 5ft 11in. I felt happiest at 12.5 stone.. my issue is I don’t look majorly over weight? Ok I’m struggling to fit into a size 14 now but I have big boobs and long legs I don’t look that out of proportion (this has taken me years to think that. I starved myself as a teen) it’s always the number and now bmi status that bothers me. I do want to get atleast 1.5 stone off..

Anyway, has anyone always weighed quite a lot but not felt they look bad? I just shudder when I think of that number. Coupled with trying to be more positive about my body it’s confusing.

It sounds like you look fine, but a bit off would be better for your joints and overall health etc.

So just work out a reasonable plan to do that and take it steady? There’s no need not to be positive about your body.

Yeah I'm built like a brick outhouse and can carry an extra 2 st above healthy weight without looking 'fat'. Im a 12-14 with a big bum, boobs and broad shoulders so quite well proportioned. I still consider it 2st overweight though and am aiming to get it off but in a steady way rather than the strict regime I used to get the first 2st off that I needed to (4st gain due to medication). It's slow and I'm distracted but keep reminding myself to work out, do weights, not snack or get takeaways as much as I'd like and feel better for it.

@Luredbyapomegranate yes true, thank you. I suppose self hate was much better at keeping me determined 😬

@hugefanofcheese hi! This sounds like me. I’m not majorly uncomfortable with how I look but would like to shed it. It just always seems I need to be so so strict to do so as I’m partial to a beverage and a meal out. I’ve always weighed more than the average person even as I child I was so heavy but in the right age clothes

5'8 and 81 kg (yes I know mixed units) and people are always surprised when I say so. I'm a 12-14 but also broad shouldered/ quite well muscled . I can see and feel it on myself though
