MFP- 3 stone to lose

Weighed myself and realised that I am heavier than I would like to be, and I know I have myself to blame. I like to snack, drink beer and wine as well as a love of chocolate has done me over!

Started using MFP to log food this and have quickly realised how much I eat between meals Blush. Have cut it all out and alongside the usual exercise I do, this has given me a decent deficit every day.

How long do you think it'll be before I hopefully start to see results? I have been avoiding the scales for a few days but probably need to step on them again next week Grin

Don't avoid the scales. Use it as a piece of data and so you can start to log daily fluctuation and hopefully build a trend line over time (at least a month)

I know my weight fluctuates hugely, going up about 10lbs before my period and dipping after ovulation.

Sometimes this has been problematic as I have tended to blame weight gain on hormonal factors rather than the biscuit consumption!

I lost nearly 3 stone with a low carb diet and MFP and have kept if off for a few years now. Still using MFP and weigh every day - do not avoid the scales!

Yes seeing it there on screen is a reality check as to how much you're actually eating.

I used to drink a lot of wine but now almost exclusively just have non-alcoholic beer.

Good luck!

@Westfacing can I ask how long it took you? I am so bloody hungry today I'm struggling a bit.

I've got 3stone to lose too but I'm thinking over a longer period. Would be very happy with a stone by Christmas!

Exactly why you should monitor daily so you do see that fluctuation but also see a trendline

A stone by Christmas would be lovely, and another by next summer would be even better.

I'm not after a quick fix but a slow, steady loss would be fantastic.

Difficult to say exactly how long as it was some years back.

The first stone came off quickly within a couple of months. That first stone is important as it's a psychological milestone and makes a practical difference to how your clothes fit... buttons not gaping, waistbands not digging in, etc!

Then like all diets you have a bit of a relapse and a pound or so goes back on/off and so on it goes. Then you tackle the next stone. I suppose overall it took about 18 months, with lots of ups and down on the way. But it is do-able!

Some days are hungry days - but if you do succumb don't worry just endeavour to get back on schedule the next day.

jist checking myself in on this if that’s ok. I want to lose 2-3 stone before my wedding next September. About to download MFP again!

NoEffingWay · 24/08/2022 12:40

First week done, have lost 2lbs which is a good start. Grin

@MummyDrinksWine i'm getting married too, next June! I have my dress and it fits me now but would quite like it to be taken in, rather than out!

How about you?

5lbs down, feeling better everyday though still trying to find the balance between extra fibre and the degree of flatulence, bloating and diarrhoea that I can tolerate. No chocolate, beer or sweets in almost three weeks!
