Does Slimming World work, if so how?

I managed to lose 2 stone with weight watchers a few years back but its slowly creeped back on.

I just searched for a local weight watchers meeting but they are all at times which I can't attend.

There is a local Slimming World club that I would be able to go to but I don't know if it would work for me.

I've read a bit about slimming world but I don't understand how it can work. How can you eat unlimited amounts of certain foods without gaining weight? Weight watchers was logical to me, reduce calories, fat and portion sizes = weight loss.

I also don't understand the science of not combining certain foods. Why does this work?

Can someone please explain it to me?

Has anyone been really successful using SW?

Haven't used it, but there's no magical science in food combining as far as I know (I know that this gets debated a bit, but I've never seen any proof).

SW works a bit like weightwatchers- high fat food costs 'sins', etc.

You're then allowed just meat or just carbs, but the ones you're allowed are the 'good' ones and, overall, you end up reducing portion sizes and therefore overall calories (e.g. if you are having a red day, you might have chicken breast and veg. Even if you have extra chicken and more veg, the overall portion size and calories likely to be lower than chicken, potato and veg)

We did it and both lost a stone. I think that anything that makes you change the way that you overeat can work. For me, it made my periods go funny which was not good since I wanted to conceive but as soon as I stopped, it went back to normal. You could eat a lot and worked better than weightwatchers for me because I didn't save all my points for Stella!

Think I will give it a go.

Got nothing to lose but weight (and £4.50 a week)

Thanks
