Citalopram and weight gain

Hello everyone,

I'm 36 and last year I was put on citalopram to treat chronic dizziness and 3pd. I was in a pretty dark place with the dizziness, i thought I had become disabled overnight and could not find peace. Physiotherapy, cbt and citalopram helped me and I'm now dizziness free!

Though I'm beyond grateful i no longer feel like im on a boat in choppy waters, i now have gained quite a bit of weight, possibly 5kgs. My clothes don't quite fit me anymore, i have a bloated belly and pretty big love handles. Note i do exercise fairly regularly (could do more) and eat pretty healthy.

Does anyone know if coming off citalopram will aid my weight loss? Or am i stuck with the excess weight?

I've been on it for years and never gained any weight on it, in fact I've lost and I'm the kind of person who would gain weight.

Same here, taking them now and have before and never gained weight. Speak to your GP
