ok so I am being bridesmaid for my friend on 15 th march.(only 8 weeks away!!) I am peed off at being a size 16. I have lost 9lb so far but it is just a liiiiiiiitle bit too tight on the bit between my bust and my tummy. I need to lose a few more pounds but I am struggling. I don't want to go to slimming clubs. My main thing was to stop snacking. Well I haven't completely stopped that, but I have drastically cut down, trying to drink smoothies when I get a sweet tooth urge!! I don't usually eat breakfast (which results in more snacking!!), but I have started trying to manage a small bowl of cereal after I have been awake a while, so I think that has helped a lot. I am just really starting to struggle now. Struggling with sticking to it. All I can think of is not letting my friend down on her big day (she is only a size 6-8 anyway and the other bridesmaid is a 10 so i am going to look like a whale as it is!! )

someone help me!!

fwiw i'm sure you'll look bloody fabulous on the day!!

Remember your friend has asked you to be bridesmaid because she wants you there at her side as her friend, not to make yourself unhappy or starve because of it!

AnAngelWithin · 15/01/2008 18:03

i know. i wont starve. i have been down that road before. DH refused to let them send me to hospital. i just want to feel as though i look nice.

9lbs good going so far.
Maybe you could try and put a bit of extra exercise into your day. I'm currently dieting for my wedding (middle of april) and I've started to walk to work. Not crazy exercise, 30mins one way = an hour a day, i think its helping.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll look lovely.

AnAngelWithin · 15/01/2008 18:06

i am trying to put more exersize in. i love walking, but the problem i have at the moment is dd2 screams til shes blue in the face when i put the raincover on the pushchair. no good seeing as its p*ssing down with rain most days lately!! think i might have to dust off my stepper (if anyone leaves me alone for long enough to use it!)

Of course you want to look your best for your friend and i'm sure you will

How about starting with a sensible detox to (ahem) 'clear' you out! and then begin meal/snack planning, also with a bit of excercise too, it doesn't have to be vigourous just walking faster, skipping rope is also good and easy, swimming that sort of thing

Good Luck!

Detox is really hard but having soups can be fun in this rainy time and you can experiment with them.

AnAngelWithin · 15/01/2008 18:10

i think i have had a detox having a tummy bug over christmas!!! lol

Hi Angel, Very well done on your fantastic 9lb loss!

Can I ask why you don't want to join a slimming club? After I had my 3rd son I managed to lose some of the post baby weight by myself but when the weight loss really slowed and I felt I was, like you, "struggling" I bit the bullet and joined Weight Watchers and lost 6lbs in the first week!

I know slimming clubs aren't for everyone but if you're really struggling then don't rule it out. You might find that going is a real help to you.

Best of luck and I hope the wedding day goes well

I personally think you'll never get a better support then on MN and it's free. everyone is struggling even people who belong to all these clubs - you can see how many postings are from the members.

AnAngelWithin · 16/01/2008 10:29

sorry had to go and do the cleaning etc yesterday!!

i cant get to a slimming club at a reasonable time so its not really practical.

there are loads of slimming threads on here i don't know which one to try and join in on!!
