Body fat %

I've lost a bit of weight, about half stone, my Body+ scales are saying I've lost muscle, putting my fat % up.

I know I've lost weight from my fingers. Because my rings fit better. So presumably I've also lost from my feet. Could that be affecting the reading from the scales or have I really lost muscle?

There's nothing remotely accurate about those scales - wouldn't worry about it. Sorry!

Home body composition scales are quite inaccurate .

This said, the method chosen for weightloss can cause muscle loss. Low carb diets have been studied in very accurate settings, and compared to low fat diets, the fat loss is lower and loss of lean tissue is greater on low carb diet compared to for example low fat diets.
This has been widely studied and reported in the medical literature. A good review article is this one www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4603544/

In addition to muscle loss, low carb diets will also cause bone loss . www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fendo.2019.00880/full

Are you following a low carb diet?

Diet?
Not been following a 'diet' as such, more trying to reduce the junk (sweeties, cakes, biscuits) and reduce my carbs a bit, one slice of bread instead of two.

So yes when you look at it, it's carbs I've been trying to reduce. Maybe I need a rethink. But I've definitely lost fat from my hands (I was struggling to get my rings on😳)
